Big police from BKK in town today so the music had to stop at 2 am tonight at all Sois, we closed around 2.30 due to this. Seancally didnt even notice the music was turned off, when I told him the news, lol.

Nice timing to crack down on Xmas night with all the farang tourists "celebrating" Christmas! I mean, seriously, their strategy seems to be to bring only "quality" tourists, but everything they do seems to ensure only the hardcore ones will come back to brave it.

Why do they do it, so that they can squeeze for money.. Its almost always a payment thing or a VIP in town.

That said choosing to do so on Christmas day seems especially vindictive. They really are doing everything in their power to drive people away.

Not just Phuket, some Chiangmai bars told to close early (midnight 23rd)
Police upset they were called out twice in a week due to drunk Thai's fighting.
(isn't that their job???)
Now they have DOUBLED their tea money if we want to open past midnight.
Oh well, it's still 20% of what the poor Phuket bars have to pay.

Of course... they are now blaming Farangs for the fighting.:mad2:

Personally I think we should round up all the girls in Thailand and relocate them to a more 'western' friendly country in Asia that give 10 year multiple entry visas, and allow us to buy land/houses wherever we want, and the bars stay open all night, every night and the police go to bed at 9.00pm .........55555555555555

I can understand the early closing on Christmas Night if it was directly related to the Tsunami Rememberance service on Patong Beach this morning.:rules:

Well plain clothes confirmed that it wasnt only last night, but it is to be tonight and the night after also.. If that happens or not we will see, but that was the instruction to a bar that pays its money..

The unconfirmed is the Kings son is on the island, tho I hardly expect him to be walking bangla at 2 am !!

If this works out true we wont know until tomorrow, but I just watched the order given.

Well hopefully they can get out there and close it all down early -- then the last remaining tourists, in possibly the last week of "high season" during this already bad stretch, can learn that Thailand is not the place to come and party all night long!

They could do a double-whammy by setting up a booth to distribute tourism and travel brochures for Bali and other party places in Asia, just in case not everyone is getting the message! h:

I jumped the gun a bit today and set up a small 'Rochdale - Center of the known Universe' Booth here in Kamalala to distribute leaflets about our town hall, swimming baths and bar fights.

Didn't manage to hand out any leaflets in the end but managed to make 27 baht in donations in my tin cup from locals who took pity on me. :erf:
