advice req for long time bar girl on holiday!

well after reading this post by hansel it got me thinking...

"I do know a good number of bars around Patong with this and other stupid rules in place. A customer comes once, then never again.

To all my many friends that come to Phuket (and like to stay with the same girl for several days) I advise:
Get yourself a girl somewhere (preferably a disco or even from somewhere in the daytime!), then bring her to another place if you want to drink.

No lady drinks, no barfine, you will not be pestered to give drinks to girls, she will be in a good mood because she did not get filled up by other customers, and it is guaranteed that she does not drop you at 02:00 and goes home after you paid a monstrous bill.

You save all around, the girl gets paid a fair price and in the end it is even fair to the bar who makes money on drinks sold, which officially is the business they are in.

Also I tell them: DO NOT EVER pay a barfine. If not possible otherwise, agree a fair price with the girl and let her handle this part, so no silly "extra price only for you". Make this part of the agreement extremely clear.
It is true that the girls get a part of the barfine or ladydrinks, but the perceneforum.xxxe varies. Afterwards, rather give her an extra good tip for good performance (and make this point also clear before "

My first trip to t-land and the night-life scene was last month on a one month long holiday. i was a complete noob and got obviously ripped off here and there for everything. sometimes barfines were 1000 baht sometimes 300, quoted 4k for s/t once, which i rejected, etc.

anyway i met a girl at a beer bar that i wanted to stay with for a while but also wanted to avoid barfining her every day and paying multiple lady drinks for her or her friends. after a couple days she would just come to my hotel after her work without me going to her bar, but this was 4 am and she seemed tired etc. we usually spent the morning and afternoon together. I guess what i am asking is if any one of the long timers have any advice on this issue (staying with same girl for many days, and as cost effective as possible).

ne way currently have one of those, "lost in translation" relationships w/ a bar girl i met, which i obv have no clue where to take, coming from western ideas etc. and she obviously after 2 days started in with the "I love u" take me back to America routine, haha

but i am currently looking for the most cost affect advice to stay with the same girl when i go back to holiday in t-land for a month, while avoiding going to her bar every night and paying for lady drinks and bar fines etc.

when i holiday next time for one month, i would want it to be with the same girl, however barfining her every night while paying for meals or nights out and her lady drinks seems retarded and there has to be another way.

when i was with her she said she had to be in the bar 8pm-2am every night, and could Only be barfined after 12. she would however stay with me all day, and only leave like 7 pm or so to change and to go to her bar, but i was sort of expected to go there and keep buying drinks and bar-fining her almost ever night. I mean i guess these bars really do Own these girls, but is there a way to just be with the same girl for an extended amount of time, without this so called life-time bar fine i keep hearing about. and if so, whats a reasonable daily salary, also keeping in mind the fact that i would pay for meals, going out, "regular" clubs etc.

IMHO you seem to be to worried about the money angle....you have come to los for a good time....spend a bit of cash....its very cheap for you

If you want to take a girl out of a bar for a week you have to pay a bar fine for the duration.....that means she is with you for the week..she does not have to go to work....5 or 6k would be a fair price excluding the bar fine...you would also have to pick up daily exspenses like food, drinks,shopping(she is now your tilak) ect....this will work out cheaper than siting in her bar the whole night buying lady drinks and watching her work and then bar fining her later.

best bet is to get a fl and then you dont have to bf

they must have seen you coming if you paid 1000bht for a bar fine
300bht if they start talking silly numbers move on.....there are plenty other bars

go to a nightclub and find a freelancer!...no BF and if she likes you she might stay with you...but you will need to show here a good time and take care of her..which involves openning your wallet anyway...so back to the money problem again....

Normally, you should not pay over 300, except at a gogo bar. There are still a few places that only charge 200 BF, altho MTB may be the only one left in Patong, if Nicke hasn't raised it yet, and that is a good reason to go to MTB. as well.

Although different bars may have different rules, in general, if a girl does not show up at work, the only penalty she will face, is that she will pay the BF for that night herself. So, if she gets a BF for a week or two, then he can just give her that much to give the bar. The barowner would like her to go to the bar, because more girls and more patrons brings in more business. But it is unlikely he would fire her for taking a week or 2 with a BF, since after all, he needs girls at his bar.

Find a girl in a disco, or a girl who is willing to NOT go to the bar every night. You can pay her the BF and she can give it to the bar, but not go to work there, while she stays with you. 3 yrs ago in Patong, I had a GF, who I met at Tiger disco, after the bars had closed. I liked her and told her I would go with her every night. The second night, she called me, and said you want to go with me, why you not come to my bar yet? I simply told her that I didn't want to go to her bar, but would be happy to go with her, but she would have to come to my room. After that, every night she came to my room, and we would go out bar-hopping. I never went to her bar, not once. She was happy, because I paid her 1500, and never asked me for the BF money. When I left Patong, she went back to working at her bar.

If the customer doesn't want to pay a barfine, most BG's will subtract the bar fine money from their tip and give it to the mamasan later on...
Usually the guy will not be aware his GF is out of pocket.

Girls that disappear for days with customers with no compensation for the bar causes a lot of bad blood. Usually resulting in them leaving.

If the customer wants a long term relationship (weeks...months), most girls just quit the job.

In my short experience it's frustrating when your business has only 1 or 2 girls showing up, and you have no idea where the others are. it's hard to attract the customers with an empty bar.

Don't think you will find many bars around the Bangla area with bar fine as low as this. Most are 500 baht these days and there are those in Tiger where the bar fine is 1000 baht..

You sound very sincere and sound a lot like my 25 year old son after he'd been to LOS for the first couple of times.

In my 20+ years of coming to Thailand, what advice could I give you?

First, make it a law to never stay with the same girl 2 days in a row. This includes the following morning after shacking up all night. It's a tough one to follow, especially since every Thai girl you are ever going to meet is probably going to be better than any American white cave b*tch that you've ever been with (that nomenclature is courtesy of Ice Cube), but stick with me on this one... Yes, rules are made to be broken, so if after another girl on another night, then you long for a previous one, you can break the law and go back to her for another fling. My guess is that this will not happen.

If cost is a big consideration, I advise to adjust your hours to be late. That means, getting sauced on your own and then hitting the bars around 1 or 2, then if that doesn't turn up anything, hit the streets for freelancers. For sure, this isn't a perfect scenario, but meeting a girl early in the night, tanking her up with booze at her bar, then taking her away is going to cost you. And then, she might want to make quick work of you to get back before closer and turn another trick.

The best girls in the hay are often not the best lookers, too, which is another reason to cut the chord when you wake up the next morning.

If you've read Private Dancer, then you know not to make false promises - Thai girls will take everything you say literally and beyond, and it will be etched in stone in her brain. If you are asked a question, just say something like "I live for the moment, I'm on vacation so I don't want to think right now, and we will see how things turn out".

If you are lonely for continuous female companionship, just get hammered in the evening as previously suggested, stay with a girl all night until noon the next day, then by the time you recover it'll be the early evening and you'll be ready for the next round.

I paid the bar fine for every night of the 2 weeks I spent with my g/f all those years ago - sometimes in-arrears but mostly in advance - and this was to the MTB.
This shows respect both to the girl and to the bar as well and should not be overlooked IMHO.

I think this is good advice for the typical guy on a 2 week or 2 and a half week vacation, especially if he has the typical job with paid vacation leave. Then vacation time is party time, and why put a damper on your own party worrrying about costs, or penny-pinching?

But one size does not fit all. If a guy is on a tight budget and $50 a day is really going to make the difference in a 17 day stay($850), the difference between having enough money to by a plane ticket to get to LOS, and going or not going, then that is different. And if a guy is there for a month or two or three, the savings could be $1500, $3000, or $4500, if he cuts corners on things like eating in restaurants or from vendors, BFs, more than one or two LDs/night , drinks for "my friend," and whether the girl gets 1000B, 1500B, 2000B or more.

And if a guy is self-employed, and not only incurring costs, but going without income for a month or more, while on vacation, then money has to have some priority, if he is a man of modest means. Unless he wants to dig a big debt hole for himself, that could be hard to get out of, and rule out future trips.

So while I agree that your advice is good for most guys in average circumstances, I don't think you can paint everyone with the same brush.

P.S. A savings of a few hundred baht a day could also could also make the difference between a guy staying in a lesser quality guesthouse or in a nice hotel like yours, and that certainly is a big difference.

a bit of an update she says she has a week off for the Songkran Festival, and i told her i might be able to come visit. She said she would be able to stay for the week w/ me in the hotel and no amount of $ was discussed. However, she did say that her parents are visiting her in phuket, during her holiday as well. I mean, i'm no trying to turn this into a big thing, nor am i trying to get a true GF out of this, just a sort of optimal GFE, while keeping things realistic. i mean i don't want to be meeting her parents or anything, but will this be sort of expected or implied if i go, and tell her to randomly leave her family every once in a while so we can hook up/jet ski/eat/etc.? Do Thai's do anything special on this holiday besides throw water at each other, lol?
