Ok, so I walk into allure on friday at around 6:30ish (pm) and ask to see who's available. I ask to see if Lee is working, and I find out shes not. So I ask when is next working? Monday I'm told. So I go ahead
and book an appointment for 9pm.

I leave the house, and drive for like an hour and show up 10 minutes early.

So I'm told my appointment is no longer available and somebody else has taken it??

WTF?! What is the point of booking appointments if they don't bother to uphold them?

The idea is to make a reservation. Your just gonna cancel it and give it somebody else?

There are no disclaimer signs posted on there website or in the studio about calling.

And more over, if i'm running 10 minutes late then call to tell you, this ensures that I'm on my way. But I showed up early!

Well massageplanet.netites, the point is, don't bother booking appointments anymore with this place. They'd rather defeat the system, then work with it.

That's shit bro, and unacceptable. I've never booked a day in advance but I always call ahead before I leave to confirm if it's an appointment I made earlier during the day for night time appt. Why? Sometimes the MPA doesn't show up! This has actually happend more than once and I learned my lesson.

So it's not right, they screwed you but take precautions next time and confirm esp since you're driving for so long to get there.

By the way, did they attempt to make the situation better, i.e. waive the room fee? Everyone makes mistakes but it's how they handle it that keeps the customer happy.

Personally I booked few days in advance at Allure after checking their schedule on line for few occasions. If my memory serves me right, I recall the receptionist on the phone gives a friendly reminder to call back for confirmation before showing up, or give a call to Allure just in case you need to cancel the appointment.

So far I do not encounter stood up as I usually call ahead hours for confirmation before the appointment with my ATF MPA begins

BTW, I strongly suggest to talk to Dina, the manager at Allure regarding this issue. I believe she's a member at massageplanet.net.....

I'm very sorry about the mix up.

We have a policy that bookings made a day or more in advance need to be confirmed the day of your visit at least 1 hour prior to the appointment. This does not apply to same day appointments.
This is a relatively new policy that we had to put into place since too many clients were booking days in advance and not bothering to show up or call to cancel. This way we at least have an hour to try and book the girl in with someone else and it's been working very well.

The receptionist is supposed to advice you of this when you book your appointment however she must have forgoten in your case and I apologize for the inconvenience this caused you.

We will be placing a notice on our schedule page, as suggested, advising clients of our policy.

Good information to know!

I only started going to Allure when Lee moved there and since the drive takes me more than two hours to get there, I always make an appointment with her before I go down there...I'll make sure that I call ahead on the day of the appointment!

I'm hoping she's working the weekend of October 2...I'm planning another trip!

Dina i have always had great customer service at Allure, altough this time i have to agree that this gentlemans apoointment was resered for him. Either way you should change the wording on your site quickly as it doesn't say anything but,
"We accept walk-ins or you can book your appointment up to a week in advance by calling us at 905.670.3162
Please note that we do not accept appointments by email."

I think you have to default that most places in this business won't be overly focused on admin matters, which is not an insult but merely an observation. As a result, phoning ahead to confirm the appt is wise.

Hey, sorry about your crap experience at Allure. I have (almost) always had the best service around at Allure. I find that most of the girls are so fantastic that they make up for any mishap at the front desk. Don't forget that sometimes they hire receptionists that don't necessarily care about your business because maybe they are only making peanuts compared to the mpa'a. I noticed that the owners Dina and Debbie are always in a great mood compared to the russian desk girl who is ok on days, and rude on some. its not her fault that she would rather be raking in the dough, like the mpa's there. apparently its hard to find good help in this industry, where the desk chick doesnt try to steal cash or spill the trade secrets to the feds, whatever, lol. i should lend them my receptionist!!!

My suggestion, email the boss and tell her your experience, she should take care of you. good luck man

I agree Dina is great at the reception desk but nowadays I rarely see her working at the front.

Never seen Debbie before so I could not comment.

On the other hand I find the "Russian" desk girl cold most of the time. If my memory serves me right, she is not Russian but one of the EE countries, perhaps Polish. For more than one occasion I notice she's not necessarily on top of things running at Allure.

The only time I encounter a hiccup at Allure was when I believed an (Italian?) lady called Lisa was the receptionist and I was partially at fault.

BTW, I believed Buddy Boy has apologized for the mixed up.....

That's odd, I've booked appointments a week in advance and never had a problem. Why? Because I use common sense and call a couple of hours before the appointment to confirm. You also need to calm the fuck down and look at it from Allure's point of view. In this business the no show rate is relatively high on appointments booked so far in advance. They aren't going to take a chance on both the parlour and attendant losing money if they aren't sure if you're going to show up. So what it comes down to is the only one that fucked you over is you.

Basically, if they aren't able to honor appointments made in advance, they shouldn't be taking them. They might want to take only appointments on the same day to avoid this sort of situations, and honestly, they should be very clear about "call 60-90 minutes ahead to reconfirm".

Sadly, massage places are too often run by people who would go broke running any other type of business.

Name me just one example of any service business that runs on time all the time, and honours all appts properly?? Doctors, dentists, lawyers, service men, oil change, etc.. hardly ever on time as promised. Sure, your appt is at 10am, but you actually go in by 10:30 if you're lucky. My RMT doesn't even work on time and she only accepts appointments no walkins, go figure. But they'll all be quick to penalize you if you don't show up and don't call to cancel.

Shit, was on a flight back from the U.S. not too long ago, and airline once again OVERBOOKED the damn flight, two gentleman had the ticket to the exact same seat! who is right now!? One guy had to give in, not sure what discount they worked out for him, of course he was super pissed.

MP in biz to max profits, bird in hand is guy with cash standing at counter. I've had many delays, scheduling screw ups, guys extending sessions etc, but just relax no business is perfect. Customer no-shows are a norm in this biz, because as the patron you have nothing to lose by standing them up. Give them a reason not to screw you, call ahead, it's that simple. As we can see there is no shortage of other guys ready to take our spot.

Maybe if every guy actually honoured his end of the bargain, i.e. show up, MPs might actually honour the appt, but history shows that we don't and, in fact, we're worse than MPs. We should blame ourselves.

Plus what happens if someone else calls earlier that day to book? Guess what, they're told she has an appointment. So that person may or may not take another time.

See thats odd because I've been bboking advance appointments with Allure and HFH and utopia for years and I'm always asked to call to confirm. And even if you're not asked to anyone who has been hobbying for any length of time will have been told this and he should have known better.

And quite frankly you're last statement shows just how limited your own business knowledge is. Usually, receptionists make the appointments, not the managers/owners. So it would be the receptionist who likely screwed up here.

I remember a couple of years ago I would call a few days ahead to make an appointment to see my regular MPA and was told that it was not necessary to call to confirm my appointment, although the option is there.... which I always call to confirm anyway. If not call the spa. I would keep in touch with the attendant, either by texting or calling her on her cell phone thats if you have her number. Lucky for me I actually got the chance to get her number on my first visit with her. However, if I was running late then I would let them know that i'll be a few minutes late.
