Are there any dance clubs in Jaco or San Jose?

Hi all, just booked my first costa rica trip from May 4th to May 8th and had a couple of questions.

1. Are there any "discos"/Miami style nightclubs in San Jose/Jaco Beach? Me & my friends are all in our mid to late 20's and live/party on South Beach. We hit up all the Opium Group Clubs & places like LIV & wanted to know if we could find any of these type of clubs in Jaco Beach or San Jose?? We all know about the HDR(BM),KL,HLH,SL and all the MP's around the place but would like a change of pace and experience a dance club with a good DJ playing house/hiphop or even open format. Does this exist? I've heard of Beatle Bar in Jaco but didn't know if that was an actual dance club.

2. What are my nightly entertainment options past 10pm?

In San Jose try Vertigo on Paseo Colon, Gaira in Escazu, Azotea Club, Club Oblique, or Ebony in El Pueblo entertainment complex. Most of these are electrónica (what ticos call trance), but you'll get a variety of sounds depending on who's the DJ - including Latin music.

Le Loft would be your best bet in Jaco. Monkey bar is also decent. Both are late night weekend spots. Both are frequented by working girls.

Thanks for the responses. I'm staying four nights in San Jose. Would it be worth it in your opinion to go to Jaco for one of the nights just to party? Or is "everything" in San Jose better then Jaco?

I would go if I were you. Not because Jaco is any good - it ain't Ibiza. But because it's your first time in country and you might as well check the place out, especially the BBar. That way you can form your own opinion. You might love it. But I suspect you'll go "meh".

I would NOT go to Jaco just to visit a dance club/party. Want to do other things in the area, sure, spend a night and hit a club. To be honest, my last trip to Jaco I was disappointed in the dance clubs. Monkey Bar was horrible and The Loft was just a couple of steps behind. Oh, and Beetle Bar is NOT a dance club in any way. Just nothing in Jaco that can compare to Vertigo or El Pueblo in San Jose. I think even the disco here in San Ramon is better than what I saw in Jaco. So unless you plan to spend the night in Jaco, just hit the dance clubs in San Jose.

Where is bulldogs? Hey club castros in San Jose can be a fun time.

Don't feed the trolls

EP is a locals place, and as such can be either right down your alley or 100% intimidating. It's certainly a place where you want to be careful. Full of women, including working girls... many HDR chicas head there after they've made some cash to party.

I can tell this "gent" hasn't been to Vertigo's or he doesn't like trance. While certainly not everyone's cup of tea, it is most definitely not a shithole. Think Space on a smaller scale. Also full of working girls and narcos.

Castro's is great if you like Latin music. Not in the best neighborhood, but no problems once you're inside.

Although Space isn't one of my favorite clubs in Miami, its the only option after 5am I'm more of a Set/Liv/Louis/Shore Club/Delano/Club 50 kind of guy...I love house music and just want a nice environment with more hot girls then non-hot girls...Vertigo's is a must go? let me know if you recommend anything else.

Vertigos is not for you then - it's a seedier atmosphere. But I've had plenty of good times there. Not for everyone though.

Gaira or Prive, both in Escazu, sound more like what you're looking for.

BTW, Bar Bull Dogs is a sports bar in Zapote.

While talking to a friend last night she informed me Prive is now called Club Dolce. They have a web site with pictures: http://www.dolcecr.com. The bottle service price list is very VVIP - for Costa Rica. Compared to Miami it's relatively cheap.
