Keep it simple. Begin with your bundled game (Wii Sports), so you can get the hang of the wireless, motion-sensor controllers. Once you feel confident with the gameplay, go raise a notch; maybe Mario Galaxy, or New Super Mario Bros., are good choices for you at the time. In my personal experience, being a single player myself, brawling games are not fun for a lone gamer. And on the other hand, the Final Fantasy games tend to be too complex, in story and gameplay, so maybe right now you won't enjoy them as they should. Also, of course, and since the Wii is a more "physical" console, think about your favorite hobbies! Do you like swinging a bat in baseball? Hacking with a sword in fencing? Or maybe you like handling a jet ski, or a go kart? You can emulate all these movements - and more - with your Nintendo console, so you can easily adapt to it with the correct games; you can even play billiards and pool, or fish with a virtual fishing rod! Think about this, and make a good choice for your specific fun needs.
