CASE STUDY - Hay Fever

Hi, I am in the process of doing my case studies and wodered whether to usemy son. He is 12 years old and suffers with Hay Fever. He has recently started taking Piriton daily.
Dont know whether to use this sympton. My thoughts are that I would concentrate on sinuses etc andleave out digestive tract and downwards!I would make up some of the treatment with relaxation.
Any thoughts?

Hi Lynda,

Your son sounds like a good case study to me.

Reflexes to work focus on for hayfever would include eyes reflexes, throat reflex, nose and lung reflexes. Also adrenals for release of cortisol for inflammation.

Don't forget the ileo ceaecal valve for mucuos build up. I used my son as a case study a few years ago. It was a great bonding experience for us too!
He's suffering from hayfever now, only I am working a lot more and sadly don't have the time to give him regular treatments.

reflexology is fantastic for hayfever i do my husbands feet weekly this time of year and he very rarely suffers at all.

Hiya Lynda, how interesting to use a child as a case study client. It's nice to show you are versatile as a therapist, I think, by exploring the different age groups. Given his age I would certainly start off with shorter sessions say half and hour, and see how he goes. You might want to Google Karin Mittiga, who runs a reflexology centre for babies and children in London. I know they run therapist workshops for those wishing to work with kids.

With my therapist hat on here, you can do some reflection in your write ups of how it feels treating a family member, and one who is a child. How does he feel about the treatments? How does he respond to his mum in the role of therapist? Is he able to relax? Does he feel better in himself after treatments? Have you noticed a difference in him as his mum? etc. Good luck and enjoy it.

The spleen reflexis also associated with allergies such as hayfever.
