WACO, Texas A Christian publisher who authorities say was identified from a tape seized in a raid on a Waco massage parlor expressed sorrow and regret Monday over his arrest on a misdemeanor prostitution charge.

Timothy Comer, 67, the executive director of the Samaritan Foundation Life of Jesus Project was arrested in late March on the charge.

He was released after a posting a $1,000 bond.

"I hate to hurt the name of God and I just don't know what I was thinking, but I can tell you I never go there in my mind again," Comer told KWTX Monday.

Comer and his wife run the Samaritan Foundation publishing company that prints parts of the story of Jesus in dozens of languages.

According to the ministry's website, Comer and his wife have served as missionaries on the Mexican border, in Ghana West Africa, Kurdistan northern Iraq, and in Sri Lanka and most recently in Cambodia.

An arrest warrant affidavit says Comer was observed on video tape receiving an hour-long massage in December at a Waco massage parlor.

After the massage, the affidavit says, "Comer was observed to be receiving sexual acts....Comer is observed on numerous occasions engaging in these acts."


Comer admitted to KWTX Monday afternoon that he had gone back several times and was "sorrowful and repentant for what he did."

Comer says he's been told he is a candidate for the county's Pre-Trial Diversion Program because he has never been in trouble with the law.
