Erik & Jay,You might also want to check with local fraternities and sororities.  One of my first professional gigs was doing chair massage for a sorority at a local university.  The girls were prepping for finals and were under an enormous amount of stress.    The sorority subsidized my services out of their activities budget so the girls only had to pay $5 for a 15 minute session.  College kids are great at spreading the word about things they like.  If you get in the door at one frat or sorority, the chances of a single gig generating lots of repeat business are very high.Good luck and let us know how it goes!JD

You guys might also want to try to get into their health & wellness fairs.  I just got a gig at the local college in my area by checking the college's website, looking at their event calendar, then calling the number listed for the health fair or wellness program.It worked like a charm.  It took several calls to get someone to call me back, but when I did get a call back, it was very easy to sell my services.Goodluck.  Laurie

Jen,I just searched the college's website until I found their calendar of events.  When I found an event having to do with wellness/relaxation/health, I just called the phone number listed & asked if they are including chair massage in the event.  If they said no, then I just touted the benefits of massage & offered them my services.I don't charge them as much as I would for a corporate gig, but it's still a profit for me.Try it out & let me know what happens.This is the time of year for health & wellness fairs, so don't miss the opportunity.Laurie

Jen,I lucked out because one of my co-workers had signed on as the house mother for a sorority.  She knew I had just launched my massage career and  invited me to do chair massage during finals week.  (If memory serves, they were trying to use up the last of the money in their discretionary budget before semester's end.)Since you don't know any college kids,  my recommendation would be to contact the Student Activities Office at the local college and ask them if they can put you in touch with someone at one of the campus sororities.  If they don't have a contact name handy, you might ask if there are any greek life informational sessions on the campus activity schedule.  Worst case scenario is you crash an info session to make a contact.   JD

I was thinking about the faculty also.   Maybe try to get to know someone on the staff, and find out if there are any events coming up where you can set up.
