Who knows what the future will bring, but in Canada the history of prostitution law has been hypocritical in the extreme. Authorities have traditionally wanted to have laws on the books that make them look tough, but then they do no to very little enforcement. Remember how worried we all were when the conservatives passed the recent law making it illegal to buy but not sell? What did that change? Even with this bylaw, the word "storefront" suggests they just don't want it visible. They are in effect driving it underground so that they can be seen to have taken action. It would not surprise a bit if the Mayor of Newmarket is a member on this board or one like it.
I think the future of sex work is bright, one of the few areas where I might find some agreement with the wokesters. No one wants to see people abused, but people should be free to do what they want with their bodies as long as they're not hurting others. More people will come to realize it until even the squeamish politicians will eventually decriminalize or legalize.
