Hi guys,
Given the general world wide squeeze on all our finances, is this affecting the bars and the lassies? Have prices gone up or down? And are there as many people coming to visit these days?
37 days and counting to my next tour, it's been 2 years since the last one and the excitement is mounting!

There's a thread ongoing about how busy next season will be. Considering how international stock markets are collapsing (and no blue skies ahead...), there may be less tourists , but for sure there will be less money spent on holidays.

Less people here, prices have gone up on everything except not for knickers they've come down but not as often as normal for this time of year!!

On the contrary, I find prices have gone down. For the same amount of money, compared to last year, I can buy 5 times as many bank shares. :intello: :tuxout:

the au $ has gone down 30% to the thai bht in the past 2 weeks maybe a problem for the ozzies

Shouldn't affect the young guys, as they are only living from one tour to the next, saving what little they can in between to spend the next go-round. Unless they lose their jobs! h:

Shouldn't affect the pensioners too much, unless their pension is not a good amount, or they are supplementing it with savings that were invested in the market.

Could affect the self-employed guys, since their business may be off a bit, which means less disposable income, and they may have less time for holidays, if they have to work more to offset the decline in income, caused by the slowdown. I know I am working harder than I have in years. :beurk:

There is a noticable lack of patrons at many of the sois. The Discos are dead (except Hollywood, but I don't go there, don't like it). And the girls are whining about no Farang. They seem happy with a fair price, when the same offer gets a look of contemps in the high season.

By the time your 30+ days pass, the likelyhood is that tourism will have picked up and the prices will firm up again.

As for the credit crunch, Thailand has it's own problems, but world credit doesn't seem like one of them.

Im concerned about the Aussie dollar, its gone from approx 1=30 to 1=20 very quickly.

My partner and I are comnig over in February ... hopefully the dollar gets better by then.

Otherwise the handbags, shoes, clothing and drinks wont seem so cheap :aww:
At least I dont have to worry about the cost of the BG's like most of you boys ... since I have a vagina im not all that concerned with the cost of renting one for the night.

the crunch definetly changes the way your holiday is going to go. losing 30% in such a short period when you have already budgeted ahead 6-7months is a heartbreaking, i paid loom and airfare in april so accom is ok, but spending money is going to be a bit more conservative for me for sure.
