I recieved a death threat by some clown from the US . A photo of what looked like a group of Mexican federales with flak and AR s. Fkn dumb fuks. They told me to pay them for aledgedly jilting some escort agency. falsley btw. Or else. They threatened that they would come after me my family my co workers. If i didnt pay them .
First off It's is a NYC number.
Secondly Because it crosses international borders it is a federal offense and an FBI case. i tracked the number down and got this guys name and address. I sent him this .

I always wondered what the point was of people collecting people's numbers or what they did with those numbers... it was probably someone in Russia spoofing an American number.

It could be. I have not heard from them since. If I recall another member mentioned something like this happening to him a number of months ago . It funny as fk the Mexicans in swat uniforms and all.

Keep in mind, there are going to be a lot of hackers and what not with number generators sending out mass texts to random numbers.
Not saying you don't know but it's best not to reply because then it validates your number to them. Just ignore.
Watch out for emails, they're coming out real hard with spam and what not to click you to fool you into clicking or tapping a link on your phone.

Stay vigilante and I recommend getting uBlock Origin extension for your browser. So type your browser name "browser name, ublock extension" in a search exactly like in the quotes.

Just remember that there is probably a 99% chance that the number you saw isn't the number they actually contacted you from. its an easy ap to use.

So true. Its very easy to spoof your outgoing number. Naturally that means extortion attempts are futile since you cannot contact them, but it works as scare mongering and mischief.

I received the same type of text. Saying to stop messing around with their girls and that if I didn't call them back they would send people to my house.. NY number. They even sent my picture saying they knew who I was. They came on pretty hard for a day with 3 or 4 texts. I ignored, blocked and reported them. Hope no one fell for this scam.

maybe you guys could discuss common places you have had contact with and that will determine if someone on LL or Kijiji is doing the threats

I would report them only to my phone carrier. There is no need to involve the police I think, since it’s a fake number.
