El Pueblo Clubs for Old Farts??

Comming to town next week and was wonderng how the club scene is in the El Pueblo area for a 40ish dude like myself. I imagine it is a K*ds hangout but hope I am wrong. Would be nice to meet some local talent (other than the DR/BM gals).

You ain't old...I have 17 years on you and I go there. If you want old women, go to New York Bar. If you want young and beautiful, go to places like pueblo.

I have no idea how you're supposed to pick up anybody in such environments where you can't even talk because the music is so loud.

Are you really there to talk anyway or to dance and check out beautiful young chicas. If nothing else theres plenty of eye candy walking around. Go up to one you like and do a few salsa steps and she'll get the idea you'd like to dance with her. In a way not being able to hear or understand anybody just puts you on a more equal footing with the ticos that speak better spanish than you. All the ticas have to do is take one look at you and they'll know all they really need to know about you. You're a gringo and therefore a) probably have the necessary funds to show them a much better time than the average tico and b) probably treat women more gently and with greater respect than the average latino male (since we've all been broken in by the greatest ballbusters in the entire world - the american gringa).

People of all ages go to El Pueblo but obviously you're going to find far more teenagers and early twenty somethings partying to the wee hours of the morning than you will find guys as old as most of us. Speakingfor myself, on most nights when I'm at home you'll find me going to bed around the same time that places like El Pueblo are just getting started (11PM+). When I go out, I consider 2PM to be fairly late night and at that hour El Pueblo is still going strong.

If you do go to El Pueblo, though, one thing you watch out for is other bar patrons that are at the other extreme of the age spectrum (under 18 ). I'm certain the bars in El Pueblo are far less rigorous about checking ID's than places like the HDR/BM. Also some of the pickups can be done in the alleyways between bars (where music volumes ARE low enough to talk). So be very careful you aren't picking up any young woman that they aren't too young. Check her ID even if there is only a remote possibility she's not as old as she claims to be.

Yes it is very very packed on friday and saturday nights. The best nights to go are wednsdays and thrusdays, it's not too packed but yet plenty of girls around. I sometimes take my cousins out there on them days. There are tons of other disco's and dance clubs around though, just gotta find em!

The thing that is different about El Pueblo in this regard is that there you have a whole bunch of clubs competing against each other in one small area and sometimes it seems they turn their volume up even higher to try to beat out the sound of the music next door. But your point is well taken. I usually can't hear what the person next to me is saying at such clubs in the US either. In CR, I've become acustomed to not always understanding and being understood and have learned to compensate for that by using hand gestures, body language etc.(of course along with my broken spanish), so having to do that at places like those in El Pueblo is not so great a stretch.

I thought that the original question was a request for recommendations for clubs where an older gringo might both feel comfortable and still have the chance to meet local ladies? Maybe I missed something...

Let me rephrase the original poster's question:

Can any El Pueblo veteran please recommend/suggest clubs by name and location, where an aging gringo can find lower music volumes, better ambience, good drinks and decent-looking local ladies?

Thanks. And I agree with all posters who develop audio fatigue in El Pueblo; I simply can't do these clubs, because I rely on verbal communication. For this reason, I never go to dance clubs in the U.S. either.
