I am considering doing either a google adwords ad or a facebook ad. Has anyone used either and can let me know how their results went? How much was your budget? What were you paying for each click?

I need to do some advertising for my new office but I have limited funds so I would like to be smart with my money.

I am also considering doing an ad in a monthly magazine that goes out to the people in my targeted area. The smallest ad (around business card size) is around $200/month.

I can't do both so I'm trying to weigh out my options.

I have done both. And I have had better luck with Google ad words. The facebook ads didn't get me any real results.

For the google ad words I set up a budget of $60 a month and that was just enough to get new people in the door

I agree.... facebook ad just got me lots of fans. Google ads has gotten me clients and more web traffic.

I have used both and like both. But I think they are for different things. Facebook ads can be targeting towards people with certain interests. So you can target people within 50 miles of your town whose interests include running, biking, marathons, health, wellness, massage, etc etc. This is kind of a broad approach, trying to get people interested in massage. You can create a bunch of different ads like "Massage will improve your running time" or "Massage helps reduce stress" or whatever. I'm not suggesting you make false claims, just kinda throwing things out, lol. The facebook ad should point to your website, not your facebook page, in my opinion, otherwise yes, it might just get you fans/likes.

Google ads are more targeted towards people searching specifically for what you offer. You can choose the keywords that people will put in to see your ad, like "massage your town" or "reflexology your town" etc. this way you know only people searching for what you offer will see the ad. I think they also tend to be more expensive for this reason.

I believe they are both worth having. Maybe alternate with them for a few months. You can put any ad program on pause at anytime. You could even alternate days, or weeks!
