Google check out and CC processing NEW?

I just used google checkout on a site to buy a desk because it gave me and extra $10 off. It looks neat and they give you a lot of credit towards your sales if you use adwords. Have any of you heard of the new google checkout? If so, what do you think of it?

I was thinking about using paypal although I don't really want to so if this turns out ot meet my needs I will be thrilled. I will need the full API version since I don't have a shopping cart yet but if any of you use it I'd love to hear what you think!!

I've used it, and I'm looking into it for my business. You cannot process orders manually though, which could reduce your conversion rate if you have to send a link and payment request.

I'm crossing my fingers that Spaboom will integrate with this VERY soon.

Excellent find Monique! I too hope SpaBoom will accept this, the fees are so much lower than PayPal. Finally PP gets some much-needed competition.

exactly my thoughts. Professional product, integrated advertising, without the $20 monthly fee on top of the % and tx fee. I emailed Spaboom and they said they are considering it.

I have a friend who just did the switch so I am happy to hear other people are excited about this new service too. I will be using spaboom in the future but want to say thank you to those of you who are also still working with them on changes that will make things easier for us all in the future! I love google and trust what they put out over Paypal.

I love google as a search engine, but I don't trust them yet as a credit card processor. They've had a lot of technical difficulties since launching Google Checkout. I'm going to wait a full year before considering any kind of switch from Paypal. I want them to work out their glitches, and I want to make sure they stick around.

I'm not sure why so many people are anti-Paypal. I've used Paypal for years, and always found them to reliable from both the buyer & seller point of view.

I think people become anti-paypal after they have a few bad experiences.

Google checkout is still in beta. They are doing quite well, but there are still glitches. What I would say is keep printed records of your transactions with them, and don't make your cash flow dependent on them getting the funds into your personal account very quickly.

There have been some issues, many of them are user error, but some are problems on google's end, as to be expected with any new service. I'm willing to be an early adopter if Spaboom would integrate with it...

I switched from paypal to google and am not unsatisfied at all.

The only thing I don't like is that their basic setup does not allow you to collect information such as how you want the gift certificate customized, if you're going to pick it up/want it emailed/mailed, and so on and so forth.

PayPal allows you to customize quite a pit.

Google's customer service got back to me on an issue (my web design program's fault--not there's) with detailed "fix" instructions, why it happened, and how to avoid it happening again, within two days.

PayPal took over two weeks and several "urgent" emails about something that was an oversight on their part to do anything about it.

Google is free since I'm an advertiser and rarely sell more gift certificates than my credit. (I have an credit card company that I use at the office.)

PayPal's rates are more than google's but are competitive.
