Question Has Covid-19 curtailed or halted your massage visits?

I am curious if anyone is giving a second thought to getting a massage with all the hype about Covid-19.
What is the general consensus?

I have been thinking about it. Funny enough I just got out of a meeting with Health professionals who have confirmed widespread infections are expected in next 2 weeks.
Definitely going to slow down and likely take a break for a few weeks.

It is the responsibility of everyone to keep each other safe. That means if you are sick, stay home. Both massage therapist and client practice this advice to keep everyone safe, so no visits when you are sick. If you have traveled recently, best also to stay away.
But if you are healthy, and hopefully the massage therapist is also healthy, business as usual.
The common influenza we get every year kills thousands of people worldwide too but we got a vaccine for it. Still, government pays for it to help it citizens stay healthy or reduce it's severity. Not 100% of the people took advantage of the flu shot, going to waste, and some ungrateful anti-vaxers even go out their way to brainwash us that its a conspiracy. Sheesh!
The Influenza is actually a form of the corona virus too which has always been there. This one is identified as COVID-19 strain.
Don't just take my word for it gentlemen, here is prove.
I say take precautions and be diligent but do not fear living.

If anything...I am going to go a little more than usual. Too much competition as it is, making it hard for them to make a decent living. The last thing they need, is everyone staying home.

Sure, when you look at the numbers so far, small percentage of the population but if not contained, it is growing rapidly and we still do not know exactly how it spreads. I have read that it MAY linger on surfaces for 5 days and spread from person to person that way.

If you are able to maybe book an appointment. Pretty sure there are openings and if they are not supported in the bad times they will not be around in the good times.

I agree on supporting them in bad times but this isn’t an economic down turn, it’s a viral down turn, and I’m guessing a good portion of us are in the “sensitive” age range. Tough call for both givers and receivers.
There is a good podcast/video by Joe Rogan where he interviews a solid infectious disease expert that puts it all nicely into perspective. Concerning, but sane at the same time. He talks about how panicked we should be. Not as much as we are, but more than the usual flew.
Look it up.

I'm not letting it affect me. I have always washed my hands before and after massages. The only thing i'll change is that if I get symptoms I'll try to isolate myself like they recommend. I don't see what the hype is- its just another flu. We don't shut down the world for the flu why do we have to shut down life for this? This is going to cause a worldwide economic meltdown! Its not going to go away because everybody stops travelling and stops going to sporting events.

As far as I know...it actually isn't quite like the flu. The flu has a vaccine: a very low dose of the newest strain of flu. Our immune system learns how to fight it at a small scale, and is already prepared to fight it quickly on a large scale.


If Covid 19 were like the flu, scientists probably have experimented with vaccines by now: a low dosage of the current strain, or some other concoctions.... all of which probably haven't worked. So, they likely are still working hard and fast to find one, that will work.

For me: I just have to support these ladies. They likely don't have any back-up support financially, if their income crashes to a halt.

We now can identify DNA, proteins, global warming, causes of health and environmental change, as well enjoy instantaneous data collection, analysis, and transmission.. Society can now glom onto snippets of information, select portions and spin them into global crises. Entrepreneurial groups can make vast sums of money promoting them. Celebrities can influence entire countries. Sorry, but I’m teaching my children to live life to the fullest, not in fear. Me? I’m going out for a relaxing massage, have a real meat cheeseburger and beer in a lounge, and a walk downtown.

Things are definitely slower for the ladies. Visited a regular (non-massage), who told me about how things have really slowed down, I was the only appointment for a Wednesday night. As I was showering to leave, she came into the shower, told me not to rush as she had no more appointments for the night, and gave me a giant thank-you kiss. As long as I am healthy and my provider appears healthy, it is business as usual; BUT, I am spending more with my regulars and less exploring. I just think that those who had consistently provided me with good services deserved more of my money through the tough times; the same way I carry on my other businesses.

Agree with first part but keep in mind a LOT of people have lost revenue streams except health care workers who are getting OVER worked as this thing spreads and toilet paper retailers.
I say stay home. They might not get money but they also won't get a virus that will FORCE them to see no one for AT LEAST TWO WEEKS.

I agree with you . I’m healthy and my immune system is stellar plus I had my flu shot. I know that if I don’t feel good I won’t partake . There are regulars that I’m going to support and I’m going to tip the hell out of them because they always focus on me so much that I will give back.

DO you read man? This thing is new. NO one has immunity. This from WHO, not some wannabe know all on review boards. you are not even immune from the flu if you get a flu shot. The shot is a guess in Atlanta as to which strain will come from over seas next flu season. If they guess wrong, it is useless in preventing the flu in the coming season.

Again from WHO. You can have the virus for 5 days AND PASS IT ON before you show any symptoms. Plus by letting it spread just because YOU have a healthy, there are others out there like seniors and people with compromised immune systems (chemo etc) who need for this thing not to be spread. Have some thought for others, not just your own self.

It is in cases like this that I can't wait for Karma when these people spread shit and it comes back to them somehow. It always does.

Some people just have a different perspective on things MM. Just because they do not follow the masses does not make them argumentative and more importantly, they are not wrong even if MOST disagree.
This is especially true if they get their information from credible sources and not the mainstream masses. If someone disagrees and name calling is the most intellectual thing they can come up with, call the CDC and WHO names cuz that is where the info came from.
A barrage of name calling to actual facts (like them or not) makes more of a statement about him than it doe about me LOL.

I don't think anyone's denying: we are willing to put ourselves into an unknown risk: it's just that....every time, you want to put people in their place and straighten them out with the facts...its seems impossible for you to do it, without sounding like you are talking down to people, and also throwing out insulting language. It may not sound insulting in your mind, but it does come across that way...to myself....and most others.

You talk about putting people on ignore: but I am pretty sure...the only one who has more people ignoring me, is yourself.

The way in which you talk, (for reasons I won't get into), doesn't bother me. Probably, because I have a great and generous friend, carrying a soft heart, inside a hard exterior.... Well I had an awesomely great fucking massage, and a beer today. Missed the walk downtown because I just simply was too bloated and lazy from the beers. Good laughs and good memories however.

As per WHO stay at home if you begin to feel unwell, even with mild symptoms.
As per the purpose of this site lets post reviews, share info, and massage on.
