Help with Help Wanted

In searching for a RELIABLE MT I ask myself what would I want, what would motivate me to work for someone else.  I would want 60% of the rate charged, all linens supplied, appointments made for me and a steady flow of clients.  I can offer all but one of these and that is the steady flow of clients.  I can try to refer them all new appointments and my overflow but work may not be on a consistent basis for a while.  I believe it takes time for each therapist to work at building a clientele.  After all, I started with no base and worked myslef into a profitable business.  I do not have a walk in location so having an IC waiting around would not work.  I am willing to promote them through mailings, newletters and advertising.  What else can I offer to find the MT I am  searching for?  I have even tossed around the idea of a partnership, finding an MT who wants as much of a stake in the business as I do.  Any advice would be of great help.       C.

Why do you feel like you need to do more than that? Are there so many fantastic MT's where you live and you have to offer them way more than anyone else? Just wondering...because  it sounds like an ok deal to me, not many IC's would expect to be working all that much for someone else.Jill

As a RELIABLE MT, (and yeah, I get that) I started with inexpensive rent in my own room, part-time. I also had a clear understanding that it would be slow to build up. If you could actually say to her "you may get 3 clients/week", she may not so disappointed as to leave in 2 months. New MTs often have unrealistic expectations. You could tell her it may be good to keep a PT job elsewhere until she gets established.

Just to let you know, I would never expect all of that as an IC.  What I WOULD expect is 60%.  I MIGHT expect my appointments booked for me...although I wouldn't want me appointments booked for me unless I give specific hours of when I will and will not work.  I WOULD NOT expect my linens to be done for me and a steady clientele.  But that's just me.  I have my own office now and I go back and forth on whether I should rent out my second room or not.  It's tough finding someone who understands what it takes to build up a good practice.  Maybe you could charge rent and not worry about all of the other things.  If they make it, great.  If not, that's on them.  The way I see it, you are going plenty out of your way for anyone interested in working with/for you.

Thanks for all the helpful comments.  I feel it would be a good offer for an MT, but finding a reliable MT willing to take the time to build a clientele of their own has proven difficult.  I feel if I give well, I will receive well.  I did rent out my spare room at one time but that ended (badly) a while ago and I haven't acted on it since.  Overall I do think I would rather have someone working under my business name rather than someone who rents space and brings in their own clients.  Although when it comes down to it, any extra income to help pay some of my overhead costs would be wonderful.
