how do i heat up the hot stones for an amateur hot stone massage?

someone who has actually done it before/work at a spa./got training tell me please
 
If you are an 'amateur', are you sure you bought basalt stones? Only those would go in an oven or heater. Unless you know for sure, heat them in hot water - as in put them in a large tub or an enamel pot, and cover them with hot/boiling water.

Heating stones other than basalt might cause them to explode due to rapid expanding air trapped in the stone.
