Now that the holidays are officially here, so is the pressure and stress! Luckily, we got exclusive tips on the best ways to destress this season!
The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year, but with all the fun and excitement comes even more stress, but don’t let the stress of the holidays get you down. We spoke to Sean Jordan, eforea spa Master Therapist at Hilton Worldwide, and he gave us expert tips on which types of massages are right for you!
Which type of massage is right for you when…?
You need to de-stress but don’t have a lot of time:
“Many spas offer mini massages that target a particular region and help you de-stress quickly. For example, Hilton is one of the largest providers of spa services on a global scale, with more than 400 hotels offering spa services worldwide. They have 22 eforea spas worldwide offer three carefully-crafted, short-duration Journey Enhancements – treatments packed with ancient healing methods from the world’s most fabled spa cultures, lasting just 25 minutes. The Journey Enhancements are targeted treatments, which focus on the regions of the body with the most condensed nerve endings, providing an impactful way to de-stress in under 30 minutes.”
You’re pregnant:
“Receiving a massage when you’re pregnant is a great way to reduce the pain that many pregnant women experience in the lumbar, hips and upper back regions. It also helps reduce any swelling that may occur in the hands and feet by aiding the flow of blood and release of toxins in the body.”
“Swedish massage or Aromatherapy massage are among some of the best treatments to receive while pregnant for their deep relaxation value.”
“Acupressure is also great for relieving tension in the aforementioned regions while pregnant.”
You’re stressed:
“When you’re stressed, a Holistic therapy such as Reflexology or Thai Yoga Massage is the best treatment for you. It is important to understand that when you’re feeling stressed emotionally, it usually manifests in the physical body as muscle tightness and tension. The bridge between emotional and physical stress is the breath. This link can easily be observed when someone is feeling stressed – their breathing will be short, shallow and concentrated in the upper chest region. Because of this link, any massage or treatment that encourages deep slow breathing such as Reflexology and Thai Yoga Massage will in turn reduce stress and tension.”
You sit at a computer all day:
“Sitting at a computer all day can result in muscle tension and overall stiffness in the neck, shoulders, back, arms and wrists. The surprising solution for all this accumulated tension can be a good Sports Massage or even better, a Tui Na Chinese Massage. Sports massage and Tui Na Massage both help to stimulate the flow of blood and energy in the body which often becomes static or stagnant during prolonged periods of sitting in the same position.”
Sean had such valuable info, we made sure we got every piece of advice from him! “Receiving regular massage is one of the best things you can do for your health. Taking the time to give care and attention to your body will help to keep you healthy and vibrant, building a stronger immune system and a greater vitality, which in turn will encourage natural healing and could possibly reduce risk of injuries. You only have one body, so make sure you treat it with the utmost care!”
“Whether you’re traveling for work or for pleasure, taking the time to unwind with a massage is a great way to establish a regular wellness routine.”
Wow — we are so impressed with all of Sean’s expertise, plus, it makes us feel better that he’s telling us to get a massage regularly — making us immediately feel less guilty about indulging and splurging on our treatments!
