I'm currently trying to write a novel. I've got the whole basic plot mapped out in my head, and a good deal of rough ideas written on paper. But to be honest I'm a very young, inexperienced writer (I'm only 12).. My mother's boyfriend who is a professional writer is going to help me send my book to a publishing company without sharing my age, like some other young writers have done in the past. I've got a couple of road blocks so I thought I'd see if anyone in the yahoo! answers community can help me with one.
I'm having trouble finding a good way to introduce an important character, Aidan into the story. The story is told from the point of view of another fictional character, Jasmine Williams. They are best friends and Jasmine is in love with him but won't admit it to herself. Aidan is near perfect- intelligent, attractive, etc. But I don't want the entrance to be like one in a chick flick- he is important for many other reasons. Aidan turns out to have super natural powers. A good comparison for this book would be Twilight, though I feel there is much more action and drama going on than romance and girly stuff. I know from the traces I've given you of the story it sounds quite cheesy and girly but I do not want to go in any sort of dept in explaining the action, drama, and epic portions of the story because not only would it take more time than I have but I do not want an part of this novel copied, as I do not yet have any copyright.
I was thinking I could maybe have the first part be from years ago when Jasmine and Aidan first met, but give me specific ideas to get that idea started if you could, as well as other rough ideas on how to make his entrance important and interesting.
