how to introduce cows milk into my babies diet?

my son will be a year old sunday...i thinks its time to take him off formula since he wont be getting it anyways once he turns 1...i gave him whole milk..he wont drink it...i bout him the gerber graduates milk which was vanilla flavored...he wont drink it...i bought him rice milk...he wont drink it...i then bought some other type of organic milk...he wouldnt drink that,,,i went to a fast food place called CHIK FIL A...they give milk with kids meals...i gave him that milk...he DRINKS IT....so coming to find out its 2% milk that he will drink...he is also not eating table foods that good...hes basically eating mashed potatoes,french fries.grits and oatmeal...any advice on how i can keep him going through the day so i can just go ahead and take him off the formula for good???thanks

To get my daughter used to cows milk, I began her transition when she was 11 months old. She did great in a month's time. So to get her used to it and better for her stomach as to cutting her off completely (which can cause bad spouts of diarrhea to just the the sudden change). I introduced it slowly.... I mixed 6 oz formula, with 2 oz milk the first week. 2nd week, I mixed 4 oz milk with 4 oz formula. 3rd week, she had 6 oz milk and 2 oz formula. And by the 4th week and just in time for her birthday, she was switched to cows milk only and she didn't have any problems switching. My main problem was getting her to drink it in a sippy/straw cup instead of a bottle. Amazing what a little strawberry nesquick did to help out with that and bottles were out for good as well! basicly i think you should get 2% milk at the store and filling his tipies or bottles with that its a good way to insure that he gets calcium for strong bones but i want to know is is the milk choclolate or regular

i am pretty sure that at first you should give him a little milk each day and also his formula untill his belly is used to the regular milk. That is the reason for formula. A baby has to get bigger to digest regular milk. You don't want him to have a tummy ache from the switch. 2% milk is perfectly fine to give him as long as he is not under weight. Mine started off with it as well. I just bought the powder Nestle Quick and put that in a sippy cup and then put a bottle in front of her w/ plain milk. She decided that the cup was better. You know they drink formula from a bottle for a year and then we ask that they not drink it that way so give him some time and he'll come around, especially if he gets a taste of chocolate or strawberry

You give your baby cows milk little by little. What i did was mix a little in with his cereal and it had no bad affect and he's fine.

With my son i mixed the regualr milk in with his formula, i started with half and half. i did that for 2 days then did 3/4 milk and the rest formula and then a few days later did only milk. it worked for me

Cows milk is for growing calfs, not babies =)I would look for other ways to get his calcium
