The term comes from the Danish, who use it to discuss a way of life that focuses on comfort and self-care.

FARGO, N.D. – Brewhalla is known for its lively atmosphere and exciting events. But Saturday – a different word defined the space – cozy!
That’s because the venue hosted Hygge Day on Saturday.
Hygge is a Danish term, used to signify coziness, warmth, relaxation – basically anything related to nice feelings and self care.
So Brewhalla had a whole slate of options in that vein. Everything from chair massages, to crafting, and even puzzle competitions.
They said this is a unique way to build a spirit of togetherness in the area, by doing comforting activities side by side.
“If you want a massage, that’s really more of a solo activity. If you want to do a puzzle competition, that is a community activity,” explained Alex Deane, events coordinator.
“But everyone is here together, celebrating on this cold winter day.”
The Fargo Public Library also stopped by the event later on to set up a silent reading party.
