is it okay if my "guy" friend puts the x kisses thingy while chatting?

he like says hi how r u x and when he says okay bye see ya or something like that he puts those x thingy thing, is it awkward or totally normal? i'm just not that good at understanding that stuff

no he's not from the UK but it felt a bit weird because it has been about a year since we last talked because of some issues i had and couldn't stay in touch, so he's like talking really friendly, he even remembers the last words i have spoken to him since last year :\ so i thought i'd ask about it

Is he from the UK? I've noticed some of them do it a lot. At any rate, it doesn't seem like a big deal.

Well, maybe he's missed you and really glad to be talking to you again, or maybe he likes you as more than a friend. Can't be anything bad though and it isn't really that awkward. If it bothers you, just ask him what's up with it.
