is race an issue in Prague?

I went to Europe last year with three friends, two were black and one was Asian (I am North African but I look vaguely white).

Well, I did notice that the Hungarians didn't care for my Korean friend, although no serious incident took place. Like anywhere in the world, not everyone is enlightened racially but on the flipside the black dude I was with got a TON of attention from ladies, particularly in the Czech Republic.

keep your wits about you but generally i felt pretty safe in prague.

Another word of warning, had a group of guys in town this weekend. A couple of the guys against our advise headed to the main railway station to find street girls (i strongly advise against this) one of the guys was British Black guy, and he is currently still in hospital. Dont know the full story yet, but sounds like a couple of Czech guys, maybe pimps to a dislike to him being there and gave him a good kicking.....

My advise, keep away from the park by the main railways station, its not the best place to find girls in Prague for sure.

Interesting thread, actually in 5 years of visitng Prague the only trouble of any kind i have seen was drunk stag parties, yes from the UK. If there is anyone responsible for the changes in attitude towards tourists... its the Staggers. Damn those budget flights......

I agree that Prague is a very safe city . I am sure Czech. people
are friendly towards foreigners if you can speak the language.
For all my trips in Prague I truly enjoyed the beautiful of the Prague
which is something quite different than a typical big American cities.
I also found out the Czech. transportations are extremly ease to use
and cheap. However, the Czech. girls are now expensive for American
mongers due to a low USD. and strong Euro. But, thing can change in
the future. and Prague will remain great place to Visit.

Nice to hear you had a good time and didnt experience any problems. Prague is one of the safest capitals / cities in the world with really just petty crime being the only issue. Be careful and play safe guys.

Well folks, just left Prague yesterday and I can say I did not feel uncomfortable at all or that race was an issue anywhere in the city I went (mostly 1, 2, 3, but also 5 and 8). I got totally lost in 5 trying to find the damn FedEx (who woulda thought there's just 1 FedEx and 1 UPS in Prague?). And every total stranger I "asked" for directions ("prosim" followed by showing them the address) gave me some kind of advice.

I would say it's no more an issue in Prague than anywhere else in the world. You've got good people and bad people wherever. I've had plenty of worse experiences in the US than I did in 4 days in Prague.

Well for me, it really boils down to 3 things... the quality of the club itself, the quality of the girls, and finally the price. The places I visited in Spain (in Barcelona), I found the quality of the girls to be quite high, with some pretty decent clubs. But the prices were amoung the highest I've seen. Unfortunately, it has been years since I was last there so I dont remember the clubs I visited, or even if they would still be in operation.

I tended to find that the hottest Bulgarian pros were not as hot as the hottest Czech/Slovak pros. But the clubs in Bulgaria are WAY better than the clubs in Prague... and Bulgaria probably has just as many options (if not more) than Prague when it comes to mongering. Not to mention you pay 50% less than what you would pay in Prague.

But honestly, the girls I found to be of the highest quality were the girls in Romania. IMHO, Romania has the hottest girls I've come across. And when it comes to service, those girls give you 110%. If only I could take a Bulgarian club, fill it with Romanian girls, and transplant it in Prague I'd be in heaven .

I was in K5 the first time in Nov. 2005 , the girls all thought I came
from Japan or Korea... When I said I am Asian American , a little surprised
to them .. However, They were very glad to have Me as a customer in there.
The K5 has a lot of Asian tourists visiting every night , some night I can
see as much 50% those folk in the bar !!
I think the Czech. people start to know the world better now.
and definitely the America having many more races not just Blacks
and Whites ...

Ledrak, well ive been to Spain many times, Madrid, Barcelona..... and can honestly say i have not had any good experiences there, cant comment on Bulgaria as not paid a visit yet, maybe this is down to personal choice as ive not been impressed with the Bulgarian girls working in Prague and Med girls are not my type. Want to recommend a good place in Spain, as im heading there again soon, cheers.

ppl in cz dont like blacks or brown ppl (mostly because of gypies)....

Yes, Prague has a lot of clubs. And if you go by sheer number of clubs per city, then Prague is definitely among the top of the list. But sheer number of clubs does not equal quality. Perhaps personal opinion plays a role in this, but I've been to clubs in Spain and Bulgaria that make K5 (which despite it's many problems, is still one of the better high end clubs in Prague) look like a crack house full of crack whores.

And the prices in Prague are in the mid to high end range, compared to most places in Europe. Meaning, I think the prices are a little high overall (not too bad though), and some places are just rediculous (charging well over 4000kc per hour ). But if you know where to go you can make out alright.

Yes race is only a problem in the normal clubs, with a select few (yes the so called skin head types) in the clubs it s correct to say if you have a wallet then it does not matter what race you are, however, many Czech working girls obviously have a preference, in fact they tend to prefer the UK, US... types as they treat them better and dont make as many demands as some other nationalities.

Well Ledrak if its clubs your looking for then Prague is the best in Europe. If its privats and escort then no. Like you saud its personal opinion but having travelled around most of Europe and infact the world i have never been to a city with such a vast amount of above quality clubs, at good prices, within a safe enviroment.

1st of all... How anyone can put Prague, Mongering, and "Best in Europe" all in the same sentance is beyond me Anyone who does, must not have been to many of the other destinations in Europe. But we're all entitled to our own opinions.

With regards to not seeing much diversity.... head to Vaclavske Namesti during the summer tourist season and tell me how many different nationalities you come across. You'd be surprised.

The race issue is not really a big deal and almost non existing in high class
club as K5 . They look at the customers as an ATM not black or white of your
skin. Obviously, there are many Oriental people frequently in the club mostly
tourists.The problem with Czech is they never get used to see many other
people from different countries ... Not like the USA..
I agree that with sex cost $200 USD. the Czech. will compete against a lot
of other EU. countries for their shares. But, I don't see that will happen very soon
when the average guy is only take home $700 USD. per month.
I can't afford to live in Prague for under $2,000 USD for sure and that is just
barely for basic living with some cheap brothels.

The Czech Republic IMHO is developing well from where it came from, and I am sure there are other previously Eastern Block countries where the workers would love to work at VW Skoda and get US$700 per month. Of course, there then follows a how much have you got, how much can you pay inflation curve.

The big issue will be that if you pay US$100 for sex, you have certain expectations (or not) but if it becomes $200, then Prague competes with a lot of first world countries and your act needs to move up a notch or two.

As an Aussie of Scots descent I have not had any issues of race or even threat in Prague, but others may get a different reaction.

I can feel the pain of average worker Czech. who has to live in Prague.
For the cost of living that I saw during my trips , It is a medium cost
compare to American cities. The worker should bring home $2,000 USD
per month salary to make a cut ... and have a some slack for Sweet Paradise
girls. As far as I concern, with the K5 price that guy is not even come close
to the door.
The good news is Czech. economy is on the run for expansion .

The Czech Republic will never be a Western European country!!!, maybe it will appear that way to the tourist market, who see the Western shops and pay the Western Salaries but for those of us who live here, try telling us that 700 dollars a month is a Western Salary. Away from Prague the old values still exist, the lifestyle is nothing like the France, Italy, Spain, UKs of the Western countried, nor is the living standards, employment or infrastructure. Ask a Czech if he is a western european, i dont need to tell you the answer.

Yes a lot of the issues are more attitude, but the Czech Republic is never going to be a "full" western country. If you stay at the expensive hotels, Four Seasons, Hilton, Inter Continental then yes you are going to get a better all round service and quality but the Czech Republic does not have the money to upgrade everything.With attitudes the Czechs appear to an outsider to be quite shy and rude, this is not the case but just a reserved nature which you can not blame especially with the history.

Donny also makes a good point with the Vietnamese community.

Just ask the girls, they will tell you who they like, who they dont like and why. I have found they usually comment on things like, arragance, personal hygiene, attitude to women and in particular working girls.... its easy to work out.
