Is VTCT recognised qualification in Spain & EU or is NVQ more recognised ?

Hi everyone

Just wondered if anyone knew if VTCTfor (massage, Reflexology level 3)is arecognised qualification in Spain orrest EU or is NVQ more recognised ? just having the discussion with a fellow therapist who is moving to Spain. (VTCT & NVQ are simimlar in my opinion as they both have portfolio as evidence ) Its made me think as i would like to live overseas in years to come - any advise would be greatly appreciated. I want to go abroad when I'm qualified. Will the N/SVQ's or VTCT International qualifications be recognised? Some countries have very specific regulations regarding qualifications that are recognised for work purposes. In some an employer cannot take you on unless you have a specific qualification. In others, Treatment Liability Insurance isn't obtainable unless you have a specifically recognised qualification. This is part of safety legislation.
N/SVQ's are the National Qualifications of the UK and therefore have a particular status within the EU. In addition, VTCT and its predecessors have been established since 1962 and our qualifications are well recognised in many countries apart from being on the National Framework. Because it will take years before there is harmonisation of qualifications, even within the EU, qualification acceptability is something that you must take up with the Embassy of the country in which you intend to go to work. However, within the EU you are entitled to work in any other EU country without a specific work permit.
Going to a country like the USA produces problems, for many States have their own regional requirements and especially in connection with physical treatments on other human beings. If you ask at your training Centre, they can probably assist you in researching the information which you require and you may also find if you are a member of a Professional Body that they can also help. One of the best ways of showing that you have met requirements is to perform treatments and literally "show them what you can do". Always keep your portfolio of evidence from the course so that you can show this to employers and non-UK Regulatory Authorities.

I'm not going for a while, need to pass my massage, reflexology & A&P, all of which are at early stages, also enrolled on NVQ 2 beauth therapy this Sept so aiming to go Summer next year all good & well ! sue x
