So, first my grandfather fought in WWI and suffered mustard gas poisoning and passed away at the age of 52 from the impact. Additionally, my uncle (one I never met), passed away in WWII on his inaugural flight. My point is my family has skin in this game.

Suffice to say while SL W may well be taking the opportunity to promote itself, my current concerns are more focused on every other marketers making noise and trying to show some level of interest in the services of the military.

It's notable that government has joined those trying to profit from situation, this branding is ongoing. The provincial and federal governments are spending (YOUR MONEY, MY MONEY), while at the same time noting governments are the very reason our veterans found themselves at war. Used to be that the Legion used to raise money and profit from this effort of Remembrance Day, to provide service and funding and places for veterans to find like minded people. Today the government is spending millions in advertising, as opposed to giving this money to the Legion or the veterans themselves. The federal government is often in court arguing against the veterans, yet spending money aimlessly in propaganda as opposed to providing services.

Further, how is a politicians pension worth more than a veterans? or the average working Canadian. 5 years of service for a political VERSES a army career providing service or 40 years of working by an average Canadian? Makes no sense.

I dont' encourage any group, company, government to pretend Remembrance Day matters, except the veterans and the legions themselves. The money spent should be donated to the Legion and paid out in benefits to the veterans.
This kind of nonsense, and poor money making decisions MUST BE STOP - overall it's disgusting and disrespectful. Canadians need to get a lot smarter and a lot more vocal if we are going to assist veterans, and more over save this country.

This applied in so many areas, food banks, hospitals raising money through lotteries, government propaganda (remembrance day, pride parades, carabana, St Patty's Day, Italian festivals etc etc - all taxpayer funded propaganda).

Tell your elected representatives to STOP SPENDING and CUT TAXES.
