Lithuanian mobile phone call scam

I received a call from a number, supposedly based in Lithuania yesterday. The call rang about 3 times and then ended.

The country code was 37.

The number started as 370 668.

I always perform a google search of unrecognized numbers I receive on my phone. The odd time, it might be a customer trying to reach me from a newly changed number or a hooker in the same situation, but most of the time, unknown and unrecognized numbers are ones that are not safe to call back on. You too, should not call back so as to avoid problems.

After a googel search of the number, I found out that many cell phone users place return calls to these Lithuanian based mobile numbers and are charged 1900 number style premiums - same as you would experience if you called a sex hotline in the 1990s and had to pay $3.00 per minute.

So, as a warning guys, if you get a call from Lithuania in the next couple of weeks, or any other foreign number you don't recognize, don't call back. It could be a scam involving a premium number and you could receive a nasty bill on your mobile phone bill for returning that call.

Been getting calls from Serbia for the past week. Automated message saying “hold for the bank manager...” followed by a dropped call. No doubt a Similar scam as the one you reported.

I've been getting lots of calls with my display showing only 4 digits. Does anyone know what this means?

Yep, been getting these too. I just ignore them. I don't do business outside North America, so it's pretty easy.

I just recently made a fake number and it is already getting random calls
