Local massage parlor reopens after raid, owner arrested - KWTX

WACO, Texas (KWTX) McLennan County deputies Thursday arrested the owner of a Waco massage parlor they raided almost a month ago as part of a human-trafficking investigation.

Suying Guo, the owner of Sun Orchid Spa at 4716 W. Waco Dr., was charged with operating an unlicensed massage establishment.

"Nobody has a problem with a legitimate, licensed massage parlor but when you cross the line into prostitution or you're operating illegally with no license whatsoever, we're going to address it very quickly, and that's what we did,” Sheriff Parnell McNamara said.

McNamara said the parlor hasn’t been licensed for about a year.

He thanked the public for notifying them it was open again.

"Citizens are watching these places, they know what's going on there because of the trafficking, the prostitution, and so anytime they give us a complaint or a tip we check it out, just like this," said McNamara. "We found out that they were operating illegally without a license so we made the arrest and she's now in the slammer."

Guo remained jailed early Friday morning.


Undercover deputies served warrants on Aug. 23 at the business and at an apartment in the 5000 block of Sanger Avenue, where they took the spa’s manager into custody.

Ren Quan Zheng, 55, was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.

He was later released on bond and was at the scene Thursday.

Deputies seized a total of $43,000 in cash in the simultaneous raids in August McNamara said at the time.

When the business was busted, two women were found inside, believed to be victims of human trafficking.

They were living in a sparsely furnished apartment inside the business, sleeping on thin mattresses on the floor.

They weren’t charged.

Whether or not sex acts had been performed in the week or so the business reopened remains under investigation, however, no other women were there this time, McNamara said.
