Ryan Sharp got tired of turning away clients from his massage and yoga studio in Sloan Lake.
The owner of White Lotus Therapeutics at 2554 Irving St., which opened in 2016, felt the business had outgrown its 1,500-square-foot space.
So, in January, he signed an eight-year lease for a second location at 3456 Tejon St. in the Highlands, which he hopes to open this summer.
“Having another location close by allows us to have one catch the overflow from our current space,” Sharp said.
The new, nearly 4,000-square-foot space was previously home to The Freyja Project, which offered yoga, dance and bar classes, and spa options.
Karen Landers with Kentwood Commercial represented Sharp in the deal, and Lara Silversmith and Kelly Greene with Legend Partners represented the landlord.
White Lotus Therapeutics offers small restorative and vinyasa yoga classes, as well as therapeutic massages, starting at $105 an hour, for stress relief, soothing pain and balancing the body.
The new location has four rooms dedicated to massage therapy now and a large yoga studio, which Sharp plans to keep intact. He plans to divide another studio in the space into two more massage rooms and a flex space for massage and yoga training.
“Some of our current clients commute from the Highlands. But there’s a high enough density of people in the area that stay in their own bubble. So, I’m sure they’ll enjoy the fact that they can now walk to this location,” Sharp said.
Sharp, 39, moved from his hometown of Detroit to Denver in 2014 with the idea to launch White Lotus Therapeutics. He started working at a sports massage clinic in the Highlands but broke off to start his own business in 2016.
“The White Lotus is an analogy for somebody that has gone through a tough time in life and has found ways to transition through that to become more well-rounded and healthier in terms of their well-being and psychological health,” Sharp said. “I felt that was the type of approach we focus on, working with people in their current state and helping guide them to a space they’re wanting to be in in the future.”
