TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police said a massage therapist at a local business was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting customers.
The Tulsa Police Special Victims United recently investigated reports of sexual assaults by a massage therapist.
Spa Lux Day Spa & Massage
Wesley Adam Cole was arrested on two counts of rape by instrumentation on Tuesday.
Tulsa Police said earlier this month, they received a report of sexual assault at the Spa Lux Day Spa & Massage near 91st and Memorial.
One victim reported she scheduled a massage at Spa Lux with a massage therapist named Wesley and said he touched her inappropriately, made sexually suggestive comments toward her and sexually molested her.
Tulsa Police were called and the suspect had left the business before officers arrived on scene.
As detectives started looking into the case, police learned another victim had recently reported a similar encounter that happened in May. The victim also reported receiving a massage at Spa Lux with a massage therapist named Wesley who she said touched her inappropriately and sexually molested her.
FOX23 spoke with Lt. Darin Ehrenreich with the TPD Special Victims Unit.
He explained what both of the victims reported to police.
"During the course of that massage, that he had groped them, that he had taken the towel off of them and exposed their breasts, rubbed them inappropriately and ultimately performed actions that were inconsistent with what normally happens in a typical massage," he said.
Ehrenreich said this all came as a shock.
"For an establishment like Spa Lux that is known throughout Tulsa to be a high end establishment, I think that portion of it is somewhat unusual," he said. "I think that reports coming out like this are not typical."
Cole was set on a bond of $150,000 and has since bonded out.
The Special Victims Unit is still investigating this case.
Ehrenreich said his advice is, if you are ever in this situation, to report it right away.
"Do in that situation what is going to keep you the most safe," he said. "After that, please call police. Please alert us to these crimes, so that we can fully investigate them and hold any criminal offenders accountable."
"Experiencing any sexual assault is terrifying, distressing and confusing," Tulsa Police said. "If you experience a sexual assault during a massage it is important to realize that whether or not you choose to speak up, your response is valid. If you feel safe doing so, you can express your discomfort and ask the massage therapist to stop."
The Tulsa Police Department recommends that you file a police report after any sexual assault incident so detectives can investigate and assess the potential for filing of criminal charges, police said.
The owners of Spa Lux released a statement on social media, saying in part it's their "duty to protect everyone who enters our doors."
