My friend is introducing me to a boy I think is cute?

So we don't know each other,I just think he's cute. My friend is going to introduce us and she says that if she tells him that I think he's cute that will boost up his confidence since he's really shy. But I don't know if she should or not. She was going to do it in class I think and we don't have any classes together so I'm not exactly sure when. But I'm basically asking if she should tell him first or if I should just meet him and then I can tell him later.
I'm 16 and I haven't had a boyfriend before so I just wanted to ask.
