Any news on the closing? I have had fun there and hate to see it go down the tubes. It offered a great occasional break from the wildness of the HDR, plus some older chicas and some sleaze drama for entertainment.

Someone will eventually buy the place, and hopefully put some money into it, such as flat screen TVs, etc. I also have enjoyed spending time there. They should bring back Gringo Starrs!

i was told by an employee there that the chinese people that own the building brought the police in the week prior to xmas and orderd them to be out by december 31 as he had not paid rent or anything else for a long time.

Thanks for the photo, PlaneCrazy. Since I won't make it back to CR for awhile, the photo brings back lots of good memories of time spent in the New York Bar.....right there on the balcony. Sitting there, drinking a cold Imperial and watching the street show going past; it was better than watching any TV program. I can't imagine going back to CR and not having the NYB to go to.

Re-opening will be somewhat of an issue.

A chinese corp owns the building. Richard still owns the liquor license. I beleive his tax and caja issues would have to be resolved to sell the license. This would mean paying off the debts or buying a different license which is not easy for that part of town.

damm ...this is no good ....no good (seinfeld line) man I will miss that place !!! always on my path to find the wild or different type of girls ...over the years ....had many great girls (and a few I should of known better) but that's what was great about the place ....buy a few girls a round and they would line up for you.....I hope they come your way BK

This goes back a ways. Remember when The New York Bar was in the Del Rey parking lot and had 12 stools and The Beatle Bar was where the New York Bar is now ?
