Normal business practice for bar owners?

I was in Soi Eric and sat at a bar just down from MTB (can't remember it's name)
I ordered a bottle of beer and sat and supped it. There were a couple of girls but they were busy with other punters.
There was a European guy sitting at the till watching the T.V who i assumed was the owner.
Now at home i only drink spirits on the infrequent times i do drink and tend to pee a lot in LOS due to the beer consumed. On this ocassion i went to the toilet and noticed the guy was behind me in the toilet. I went back to the bar, finished my drink paid and moved on.(the guy returning just behind me)

Do bar owners do this regularly or am i being paranoid or maybe i look shifty?
It's the first time i have noticed this and just wondered if a lot of people leaving without paying leads to this kind of awareness. :

Maybe, just maybe, the guy needed the hong nam same time as you?

Was this recently? I ask as its very low season now, and I hear very very quiet in the bars. Perhaps the guy (owner??) really did think you were doing a runner and was keeping an eye on his profit.

I think it was just a coincidence; no one is going to follow every customer to protect 100 baht that is owed.

It has never happend to me in over 20 years, and I have actually walked off from a lot of places half cut owing a few thousand baht only to pop back in the next night and be told 'you forgot pay bill'.....I always settle so they just think he's had too much again and never complain.

In fact it always happens at least on one trip where I forget to pay in Molly Malones and they just phone Scruffy MUrphys and ask if I am there as I forgot to pay and I settle up in there instead.

I find it does get confusing as some places ask you to pay upfront, and some places run a tab so you get a bit confused after being in 10 places a night.

Then again maybe you do look shifty

ON MY LAST TRIP TO LOS on my first night i was so sloshed in pattaya that i went for the service in lolitas in pattaya only next morning did i realise that i had left without paying 55555 i went straight up to soi lk metro and went to lolitas and paid my tab dont want to ruin my welcome ANYWHERE ! 55555

Me and Tempt were at MTB and another bar(Soi Eric) everynight. Nobody followed us. They even show us our bill before and after going to the restroom.

I was in a Karaoke bar in Laos, drunk to the gills. Went in to the bathroom to take a piss, and I became aware that a guy had walked up behind me. He walks up close and slaps a hot towel across my neck and starts giving me a neck and shoulder massage! At first I freak out thinking 'what the ****' but then I realize he works for the place and this is one of the services. My piss took forever and by the time I was done I felt quite relaxed. It went from a 'oh my god' moment to a 'wow that was kinda nice' moment. Nothing remotely sexual about it. I gave him a tip and went back to the girls.

First time this happend to me in the bathroom in soi Tiger I was go shocked I thought I would die, 555555 After that experience I usually go for the toilet booths instead, then lastyear when I was on my 2 month long trip and was a regular in soi tiger every night they decidet to play me a prank and one time when I came out from the toilet booth 3-4 of the "toilet boys" where waiting and started to massage me all at the same time, 555555
