One of the MPAs that I see regularly complained that she thinks she gave her phone number and real name out to the wrong client, she said she saw someone outside her house the other night and they drove off after she opened the light.
Here are some tips/common sense things so you can keep yourselves safe and avoid crazy stalkers.
1. If you're an MPA that will give your phone number out or real name to a client you trust, make sure you proactively google yourself and your phone number on an incognito tab and make sure nothing comes up. Generally Pintrest and Linkedin are the biggest culprits that will show up first if you use your real name.
2. DO NOT post pictures in your own condo next to a window/balcony, you would be pretty surprised how many people are so familiar with the city that they can recognize buildings in the background, keep yourself safe. One lady I follow on twitter posted a video out her balcony in an area that I am super familiar with tower and I instantly knew her exact address from the direction of the video and surrounding buildings. DO NOT DO THIS
3. I see a lot of you posting photos of their Starbucks drinks that shows the store number, a quick google search will show this store and if this is one that you guys go to regularly that IS NOT in the same area that you work in, chances are its close to where you live. Again, don't give anyone the slightest idea where you are.
4. This one is the weirdest and I can't believe someone would actually do it. I saw this one lady advertise that she was on a dating app and she quoted her tinder description/Bio on twitter, this can EASILY be used against you, someone can make a tinder and set the distance to 250KM+ and keep swiping until they see the description you posted. I can't believe some of these things never cross your mind when doing this kind of stuff. This will give this person your phone, photos, real name, sometimes Instagram. This tip is basically AVOID SUPER SPECIFIC THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF THAT ARE ONLINE SOMEWHERE these are the easiest to find.
5. Do not tell clients which car you drive and do not post pictures in your car if you work at a spa, I am a crazy car person, I can tell some cars by just looking at the seats and the shape of the door handles, window trim, etc. This makes it easy for some crazy stalker to follow you home, they can just wait for the car to pull out of the spa parking lot and follow you.
STAY SAFE LADIES!!
