School hours & cost?

I'm often asked how much my school costs, and when I tell people, they seem shocked. When I was applying and found out the cost, I kinda balked at the price, but when I found out that it was a 10 month course of 1000 hours, 200 hours being externship, it didn't seem that costly.

So here's my question to all of you- How much does your school cost, and how many hours is it?

Mine is $10,000 and 1000 hours.

back in 2002/3, I paid $16,000 for 16 months full time. NYS requires 1000 hours so the school became acreddited and offered an Associates Degree (1261 hrs). From what I hear, the school is a bit more but not over $20,000

My school is $6000 for 523 hrs. First six months is a beginner's 309 hr course, three half days a week plus one full weekend per month. Next 5 months is advanced classes, 214 hrs, two evenings a week plus one full weekend a month. Once licensing passes in PA they will just offer a 600 hr course.

In Texas, I went to school for 300 hrs. The tuition was $3,500 and included some texts and a table.

In Colorado, I attended 1,150 hrs. Tuition was $7,900 (recently the school raised tuition by $1,000, and is now offering a new 500 hr course, since state regulation passed.) and included several outstanding texts. Also included in the tuition was IANMT courses and certification. We had quite a bit of hands on time, doing chair massage at events and even sports massage events. By far, this was the best bang for the buck.

I paid about $9000 (well, still paying back about $5500 in student loans...) for a 740ish+ hour, 12mo course.

At Mueller college in San Diego I paid about $12,000 when I graduated in 2007. Now I hear they are about $15,000 for a thousand hours or a Holistic Health Practioner certification here in San Diego.

I went through a 700-hour, 9-month full time program. I think I was around $7000.

I paid $9,000.00 for a 555 hour course. Attendance was flexible with both day and evening courses available. Some people went through in four terms (one year) but they reaaly pushed. I was typical and graduated in a year and a half.

I hope $/hour isn't used to calculate the value of a massage education. I started by considering what it was about massage that interested me the most, then started investigating what schools were in the area. Then I spoke to various pros about the options and received recommendations, and also visited schools. Actually, I never even thought to consider the $/hour thing... quality can't be calculated that way.

For what I was seeking, I got the best value available.
