quick hygeine question. do the showers in the cleaner mp's usually cause warts, blood blisters etc., if you wash your feet leaving the shower? i was a silhouette the other evening, review to follow, and found it very clean indeed.

Have been in Mystique's, Brandy's, Platinum's, Utopia's and several other MPA's showers and have never got anything. However, I once did get a nasty case of athlete's foot from a gym shower - go figure, eh?

Unless I have cleaned it myself, I would just throw a hand towel down and step on that. That way there would be no bare contact between yourself and the shower. You never know what goes on in these showers. Yeah, I would definately use the hand towel. And it is in no way a reflexion of the spa, only of the person who used it before you did.

Yes you can get warts from a shower. Plantars warts are common from showers. When I was a swimmer you had to wear shower shoes to avoid these. As mentioned athletes foot is also a common one. The best way to avoid these is take a dry towel to your feet as soon as you get out. And dry inbetween your toes thats where atletes foot loves to live.

I have a friend that carries a bottle of the stuff when he visits MP's or SP's. He swears by the stuff and has never caught anything. He simply rubs it on his feet after the massage. One word of advice, wash your hands after you use the stuff. I am going to start carrying it around myself.

Insatiableguy, you mentioned Mystique in your foot fungus free post. Were you aware that several members of this board and members of MBM caught planters warts in the wet room? It's not always good clean fun.

Based on my background, I recommend a product dedicated to Athlete's Foot, rather than Absorbine Jr. I use Tinactin after the gym (even though I wear flip-flops in the shower - you can never be too careful)... Tinactin cures as well as prevents Athlete's Foot. Also, FYI, Jock Itch is a form of Athlete's Foot, and the most common cause is putting your underwear on before your socks, after being exposed to AF on your feet. I also put Athlete's Foot cream on my feet when I get home from an MP.

I've never gotten Athlete's Foot, but it is a nasty thing to get.\

The worst is (and this happened to me)The only place that I shower outside of home is mp's(I have my own universal gym)I picked up a case of atheletes foot.I never had this before. After a few weeks I noticed some redness on my toes .Well I was cutting my toenails after I finished I went to the bathroom(I didn't wash my hands before)I washed my hands afterwards of course.Once I realized that I had athletes foot(a couple of days later) I got some Tenactin(great stuff)and the foot problem was gone but now mr.happy was hurting when I showered.6 months later alot of pain and some pretty serious medicine I am cured.Always use atheletes foot treatment after a visit to any mp and ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE AND AFTER YOU VISIT THE LITTLE BOYS ROOM.Trust me jock itch is one thing but getting it right on mr. happy is painful.

I believe athletes foot takes a couple of days, not several weeks to manifest itself. You would only have to retrace your steps a day or two to determine where you caught it.

Actually the fungus can also be present on the floor outside the shower stall as well as inside. As well, the practise of placing a towel on the floor may offer some little help but the fungal spores may still migrate through the weave of the towel with all that water present and so, as you shift weight from foot to foot it is going to squish up and through the towel bringing the spores with it.

Roll a condom on your feet and have a really "safe" massage!
