NORTHAMPTON — A South Hadley man offering "Tantric Lingam Massage" and "Sensual" massage on the Internet was arraigned in Northampton District Court Thursday on a charge of arranging sexual conduct for a fee.
Eric P. Poulin, 43, of 10 Ingram St., advertised "Head to Toe Body Care for Men" and "Male Full Body Care for Men" on Craigslist and other sites, according to court documents. Easthampton police began investigating the operation this month after noticing the solicitations.
According to the police report, Poulin called one service "Tantric Lingam Massage for Men". The ad, which was contained in the report, said the massage is "so specialized you won't be able to get it at your local health salon," and that it "has its origins from the ancient Hindu religion".
A page on the "Male Full Body Care" website Poulin allegedly maintained, titled "Male Full Body Massage for Men", has since been deleted — but, it was accessed by The Republican via a cached Google page. Text under the heading "Sensual" reads: "In this economy we have enough stressers in life. Allow me to take those stressers away. You decide how much time you need & I will take you to your special place with candles, soft music & aromatherapy. Private, relaxing & such a release."
The page also includes a lengthy description of the "Tantric Lingam Massage" service, which reads in part: "The giver carries out a sensual massage on the lingam which, as you can imagine is very sensual."
According to the police report, an Easthampton police officer calling himself "Rick" dialed the number on the ad and talked with Poulin, who allegedly told "Rick" that healing, not orgasm, was the goal of the massage.
"It's not a perverted thing," Poulin allegedly said. "It's basically a massage of the penis."
The price for the massage was advertised as $300 for up to 60 minutes, but Poulin allegedly told "Rick" that customers often leave after one or two orgasms.
"Rick" balked at giving Poulin a credit card, saying that his wife pays the bills and he did not want her to know about the massage. Poulin told "Rick" he was also married, but to a man. When Poulin asked "Rick" if he was "multi-orgasmic," "Rick" said "sometimes."
On Feb. 25, "Rick," accompanied by several Easthampton police officers, went to Hair Masterz Salon on Northampton Street in Easthampton to keep his appointment for the massage. At a prearranged "take-down" signal, police arrested Poulin.
Poulin denied the charge in court Thursday and was released on his own recognizance.
