For those of you who get tested for STIs with any regularity, where do you do it, if not your family Doctor?

I've used the Hassle-Free Clinic, but only because of location, it's a hassle for me.

I used to use mobile kits whenever I found the sessions unsafe then will take some time off to make sure with another kit/test. Can be bit pricey but easy and simple enough to do it at anywhere and you just have to mail it back to the lab. I was kinda skeptical in first couple runs but apparently they are pretty accurate since my last medical check confirmed everything. Forgot the company/brand but google it and should be readily available.

Thanks..... And I think I'll keep that to myself for now. It's hard to tell with these girls if it really was an "act of passion" or if she offers this up regularly. I've seen her a few times, and FS was always covered until today.

Exactly. I think that's the one real advantage of the Hassle Free Clinic. The first time I went, I asked if they "really" needed my Health Card and they said nope, but explained that they ate the lab cost if we didn't offer it up. I gave it up after that.

I've used Teletest a few times and it's very convenient. You consult with a doctor via online chat and tell them why you want a test. You don't have tell them you saw a sex worker, just say it was a hookup and you "got lost in the moment". They will email you a requisition form or forward it to the lab of your choice (LifeLabs, etc). Go to the lab and get your blood/urine tests. The lab will forward the results to Teletest. If you test positive for something they will contact you to discuss your options. They also post the results on their online portal so you can see them and download them.

If you don't want to use Teletest, there are several regional public sex health clinics (e.g. Peel, York) that are similar to Hassle Free. Before COVID you could do walk ins for regular testing, but now many of them require an appointment and you need to have symptoms. You can just tell them it burns when you pee and they should see you.

Just a follow up on this... As I was symptom free, I never did get tested. In fact a few weeks ago, I went back to see the same girl. Great session with BBBJ and CFS...

But then part way through fucking, I popped out, she ripped off the condom and stuck it back in. I said something profound like "whoa" to which she responded, you're the only person I do this with. I tossed her off anyway, and we finished with a handy...

Fast forward three weeks... I notice a little tingling as I pee... FUCK.

So I engaged with Teletest. I lied about using a SW in the questionnaire. I had a testing consultation with a doctor who ordered tests which I had done the next day. By that night, I was pissing razorblades. Back for another consultation with doc who prescribed meds even though test results weren't back yet. Downed drugs at noon yesterday and feel 99% better now. Results are still pending, but clearly, I have something.

Once confirmed, I will contact the spa and hopefully the girl directly.

So keep it wrapped boys. If there's an upside to this, I haven't been intimate with my girlfriend since I was exposed, so no issues there. I am not going to expose the girl, as there is at least a tiny possibility that I was exposed elsewhere.

+1 for Teletest. There is an option for complete anonymity with testing, you just need to pay for the tests. ($70 or so, plus $40 for teletest)

What was interesting in this case is that I was travelling during this entire process within Canada so I was tested in a lab that was nowhere near my house, and once he was ready to prescribe medication I just gave him the name of a drugstore that was close then and within 90 minutes I had the medication. The preferred treatment was an injection followed by antibiotics but I didn’t have time to sit in an urgent care clinic for hours so the second choice is a very strong dose of oral antibiotics but it’s basically six pills that you take at one time. So about 92 minutes after he had prescribed these things I had completed the dose and was feeling better in a short period of time I was feeling a lot better.

Very comforting to me, is that they "presumtively" prescribed treatment even before the test results were back (which can take 4 or 5 days). When I first contacted them, Doc preferred not to do that as my symptoms were very minor. 24 hours later, I was pissing razor blades wrapped in steel wool and soaked in sulphuric acid. I sent them an update, scheduled another consultation and he prescribed without hesitation. 24 hours later, symptoms were almost gone again. God bless Big Pharma.

I’ve been dabbling in this hobby for the better part of 20 years and I’ve been getting tested “regularly“ but infrequently and frankly, it’s usually after what I would call a scare.

I’m sharing all of this for two reasons. First we guys, most of us anyway, give lip service to being tested, and I think the vast majority of guys if someone asked if they got regularly tested, they would say yes, even though they never have. Even though our family doctors are sworn to secrecy there is still a real stigma around this. This process, while not anonymous is extremely impersonal and the doctor I spoke to was very understanding and helpful and of course there is the option for complete anonymity.

The second reason is that the sex work industry likes to tell the story that they are lower risk than the civilian population but that is not what the scientific literature says, especially when all types of SW are considered (streetwalkers etc). Even if it was true, most guys in this hobby are married, so they don’t tend to hook up with civilians because of all the potential baggage that comes along with that. Sex workers provide a service that is well suited to married dudes. It is not without risk though, no matter how "safe" we think we are being.

I’m not married so my little dose of the clap, while uncomfortable for a few days is really not a big deal. But for the married guy who gives it to his wife the implications are far worse than taking a handful of pills.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about my experience and let you know that TeleTest is an easy option for those that need discretion or that are nomadic like I am.

Years ago I had a scare & went to the VD clinic (that's how long ago this was they still called it VD) I was advised that if there was a positive result it would be forwarded to the public health nurse & I would need to supply the names of anyone i had had sex with in the last so many weeks,is that not the case anymore?

Just so everyone knows if you live in York Region or close to it, they have sexual health clinics in all the cities of York Region Markham/Richmond Hill/Vaughan or further North if you live that way. Just call tell them you want routine testing book an appointment and when you go in tell them you dont have a family doctor and they dont press the issue at all.

Only downside is these clinics are only open 1-2 days per week in each area, usually different days in each city

I think we can‘t totally trust doctors’ discretion.

If you are infected with something, I think they have to inform your wife. Even if you swear you do not fuck her these days!

They can't legally do that. They'd be reprimanded by the College and open themselves up to legal action.

What they are obligated to do, is report the results to the Public Health department in the region where you live. I don't know why, it may just be for statistical reasons.
