Okay, this one goes into one of two categories: Either taking one for the team or How the Mighty Have Fallen.

Was downtown a couple of days ago, was bored. Decided to try the other side of things and check out Alicia, which has been well known as a high quality, high dollar type arrangement. At it's peak a couple of years back, it wasn't unusual to get quoted $100-$150 for basic relief. Humourous, considering the marketplace, I guess.

Well, I figured I would take an hour for the team, and see what is what. A $60 hour.

First impression: They need to change the filters in the AC, and they need to clean the place. That sort of "olf hotel" smell went through the entire space, sort of that not-quite-urine smell that is a real put off. The place was just not very clean, showing alot of wear (little dings in walls, floor wasn't real clean, etc). The hand controls in the shower were bent up but functional, and the room wasn't particularly clean, although not really dirty either. Just sort of "not cared for".

The girl is one I have had there before, Chinese, via Japan. Not young, not particularly shapely, but friendly and fun. However, the "extras" could very easily run you into 3 figures without any effort. Anyway, the HARD massage was HARD, not quite pushing me through the table but it was close. The end was okay, but was priced beyond my usual.

Overall just a so-so and fairly expensive experience.

Now, here is the kicker: The place was empty. This was prime time for massages, and there was NOBODY THERE. Never hear a peep when I was there, never heard anyone walk by the door, never heard another shower run, nothing. This place has 6 rooms, and I have to assume that for the entire hour twenty I was there that nobody else was in the place at all. NOTHING. I came out and all other doors were open and rooms empty, same as when I went in.

This is the "how the mighty have fallen"... this use to be a busy place, with often wait times and such. I think the high price and so-so maintenance of the place are really starting to show on their overall business levels. There is no reason why a place, during primetime, would have 5 empty rooms for that long, the phone rang only once while I was there that I could hear.

Overall nothing to write home about, and too expensive to have good return on investment.

Now, here is a place I can contribute some insight and history.
I can confirm about the smell, shower controls etc....they raised their fees a few years ago and have continually slipped down the food chain.
The Chinese woman is Diana, whom I have had a few times, but stopped because she does not listen to my requests to not be so 'hard' in her pressure..she likes to think she is giving a good massage. The last time time I had her relieve me , she would not slow down when I asked . Since I am the client I expect to be served according to my wishes.Diana and Sarah are usually there on weekdays.Weekends, Natascha ( who can be fun, but turns off quickly) and usually just one other. There was a cute receptionist for a short period (Reisha) but, she is not around recently. I think the new owner of the last two years is a woman , who is sometimes at the reception desk...probably trying to reduce the expenses. They offer a 50% discount card after 5 visits.Not much savings, however it is an indication of tough times, which they brought upon themselves.
As a general comment, I think these greedy and non customer sensitive places should be squeezed out of business ..this board is helping to eliminate the poor massages and attitudes by directing business to the better providers. I , for one, am very pleased with what I read here and it has been helpful to me. JohnD

Oliver, I find nothing worse in the MP world than girls that forgot that they are working at an MP, not an SP place with major restrictions.

To me, I go to an MP probably more for the massage and the "build up" to a decent finish. If there is no massage, then in my mind there is no tease, no sensual increase in the tension inthe room until stuff starts happening, but rather a mechanical "I want your money" sort of thing.

I don't mind tipping girls, and sometimes I tip very well - but I went to a MP, so I expect at least a decent try at a massage, even if it is only a "girlfriend" rub. At least then I feel that they are remembering why we are here to start with.

I thought it would be interesting for you to know that Studio Alicia has cameras in all their rooms. Room 1 and 2, it's in the showers!!!
I would think about it twice before going there!!!

The ex-husband of the owner has a camera compagnie. Apparently she's a nutcase.. When she bought the place she thought it was professionnal only so when she found out she fired all the girls... and hired new ones. Finally to check on the girls, she had her husband put hidden cameras in all the rooms related to internet so she could check from home. I got the info from the old owners of the place (Aromatherapy/Lee Spa/ AromaSpa) and a girl that used to work there confirmed it for me.

..Not long ago, the owner told me that they had a camera at the front door, because sometimes the girls are alone (without receptionist/iste) and will not answer the door unless the customer is familiar.On my next and last visit I looked around the massage room and I could not find any obvious camera lens.
..hmmm, they seem to know when you have finished your shower.

Are they waiting to find some public figure as a client? Are we all porn-stars now, a la the film European Vacation..where Chevy Chase leaves the video camera on 'by mistake' while they are making love in their hotel room e presto Beverly d'Angeles becomes an Italian porn star overnight.

Maybe they have some regulars from the moral squad? Does anyone think cameras are being used in other studios? JohnD

John, speculation, I think.

First off, from a legal standpoint, they cannot use your image without a model release. More over, you would have them on invasion of privacy and a bunch of other things.

More importantly, if you are going to put a camera in a room, why put it in a shower, when the real action happens in the main room?

They know when you are done your shower because THE WATER STOPS RUNNING! You don't have to be a magician to know when the shower is over.

The door camera, well, I can "picture" that... but cameras in the rooms would be a VERY big jump, and something I am not sure they would want to get involved in.

FD: From a pure technology standpoint, putting them in the showers is bad, because the lenses will tend to fog up, get wet, get splashed, and otherwise lead to degraded visuals.

It isn't too far fetched to consider someone putting cameras in the rooms. However, the MP owner would have to be a mental case to do it, mostly because the tapes, if kept, would provide very detailed accounts of the action in the rooms. If anything happens, well, the LE would have all the proof of a common bawdy house that they would need.

I suspect you are more likely to find transexuals hiding out as girls rather than cameras in an MP room.

A laughable reason for a camera in the shower, is the possibility of their enjoying watching the customer get scalded because the hot water controls are not functioning properly....

Could it be that Studio Alicia uses the room cameras for training purposes?
But, internet access ....hmmmm

Re the logic of the new owner using surveilance cameras to catch the providers..since the new ones are operating the same way as the old, what was achieved? Are they using infra-red cameras?

I used to walk by the place all the time and look at it but it always seemed really nice and "straight" not a place for extras. Good to know you took one for the team MaTt and I won't be going there any time soon.

I really have to put a plug in for my favorite MP in downtown on St. Jacques St. and Atwater called Nefertitti. It's filled with beautiful Russian ladies and a massage will set you back $50 for an hour and then a tip. I strongly advise you to see Alexandra on either fridays or Sundays or Lana who works Wed. and Thurs.
