Old City chiropractor Jane George, DC, is embracing her experience as a healer to the stars to open a boutique wellness spa in Rocky Hill with some of the latest Hollywood treatments.
George has owned Body Mind Realign Chiropractic on Central Ave. since 2017. Her 650-square-foot spa of the same name will have a soft open in mid-January in the Rocky Hill Shopping Center.
Spa offers variety of services
The spa will offer concierge and a la carte packages for patients. Services will include a variety of holistic treatments โ first and foremost chiropractic care.
George will also offer massage with a massage practitioner, hypnotherapy, detoxification packages, infrared sauna usage, nutritional analysis, natural beauty services, CBD oil guidance and more.
CBD: As CBD oil turns mainstream, local Blรผhen Botanicals enters $2 billion hemp industry
โItโs going to be support for the holistic individual,โ George said.
George, a Knoxville native, ran a wellness spa while living in Los Angeles. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in biology from UCLA and received her chiropractic doctorate from Cleveland Chiropractic College. She's a functional medicine chiropractor, which includes study in nutrition and lifestyle management.
Healthy skin and beyond
The infrared sauna can be adjusted to emit different wavelengths for three types of treatments. Near infrared is used for treating skin issues like psoriasis or eczema; mid-range infrared is used to help muscles and joints; and far-range infrared treatment raises metabolic rate and heart rate.
โInfrared can be really good to help heal,โ George said.
The spa will offer several popular natural beauty treatments like medical-grade microcurrent facials, high frequency facials, diamond-tip microdermabrasion, in which diamonds exfoliate the skin, and stem cell facials, which are non-invasive and utilize the stem cells of New Zealand sheep.
Holiday Shopping 2018 Five hot health gifts
โThe body can use all that nourishment to heal and repair,โ George said.
George bases her health analyses on blood work and makes nutritional and supplement recommendations to patients based on their needs.
โWe want to change your relationship to food, we want to get you cleaned out, we want to see you have 80 percent of food on your plate be plant-based," she said.
New plan for Old City space
George plans to retain her Old City space across from Lonesome Dove, but is eliminating the retail aspect of her business and changing the concept to a wellness collective, where chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapist and other wellness practitioners can rent the space.
More: Retail, dining revenues keep rising for Market Square, Gay Street, Old City
George said sheโs looking for 15-20 practitioners to participate and she will also continue to see chiropractic clients there.
The grand opening of the wellness spa will be in February.
โI really want to empower people," George said. "I want you to own your health.โ
