tips question

It's just another english question.   What should I say on the price list board to remind people to pay tips in a polite way? Thanks  ;D

I see this post was read but not replied to.  I would like to but I do not want to appear rude or snooty.I would never put anything on a price list about tipping ...except for the few that I have read stating that tipping is NOT required.Do I accept them if offered, yep, and graciously...but I would never hold out for one.If you feel you are depending on that few dollars then perhaps you should review your pricing and adjust accordingly.Nope, I wasn't successful in not sounding snooty....but I'm not trying to be, promise.Robyn

Robyn you did not seem snooty at all in your post.  I think I side with the folks who would not post anything about tips.  It's rude.  It would be better to increase the fee if needed.

I have seen several spa brochures which add a small blerb about gratuities and how you should give them.  I personally find it offensive.  If the services provided deserve a gratuity then by all means leave a tip but it should never ever be expected.    Yes, I agree with "Gratuities are never expected, but are always appreciated".    Connie

tips question

Even when they book a party. I think its rude to charge 20% to the bill. Iam just thankful they book the party and I busy that day. We tell them when they book that no tips are allow when they book a party. Guess what they always book again.Works for me.

Merciful heavens ----- glad to hear you left that tipping statement off your printed materials!I work for a hospital so tipping is not allowed ---- we're supposed to give superior service without tipping, of course!  If someone insists (usually a client who is used to receiving massage at a spa setting) I have them put the money in our Relay for Life canister ---- a good cause and no question about my ethics then.I find folks are embarassed to ask whether tipping is allowed or not, but when they do, I say "the best tip you could ever give me is to tell others you like my work!"  Linda B in NC

Oh Linda I love that last line.  I'm going to have to remember that one!  Every once in a while I'll have someone ask me if they should or if people do and I always feel funny answering that question.  Now you've made it easy for me! Thanks!

Thanks, Terab.....it's eased some embarassing moments for me and everyone seems to feel better.... People love to tell me about who they talked to about my work and that tip reply statement brings it out, and then comes another touchy question  --- "have they come to see you yet?"  Of course, I can't answer THAT question, so I divert again and say thank you for recommending me to your friend/family member/boss/whatever.Linda B. in NC
