Since we have been using twitter to market our business we have had a surge in membership at our network.

Twitter is a great branding tool and I would highly recommend it to everyone here. I have also shared a post called "21 Ways To Market Your Business On Twitter" that I thought is very interesting.

Anyone else had luck with Twitter?
I did a search in this forum about twitter and it came up with nothing. I thought I would be good to share since I am getting good results.

If this thread gets a good response I can share the tactic I am using to get many followers on Twitter in a very short amount of time.

The most annoying thing about marketing via online services like Facebook, Twitter, etc. - is that every 1-3 years they will be supplanted by something else, and then you have to rush into that area as well. All the hard work previously done via the old service evaporates and you have to keep starting over. :irked:

Worse for me, I personally can't stand free networking-based sites like MySpace and Facebook, and have less than zero personal interest in Twitter. So I either have to grit my teeth and deal with it, or find alternative options that cost more but provide a reasonable return on investment.

This is one aspect of being an entrepreneur that doesn't get much discussion, but it should. Running your own business is a labor of love, but sometimes you won't love all aspects of the labor. :twisted:

If I understand the concept of Twitter - and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong! - it's an ongoing update of what you are doing. Is that a simplified explanation of it?

Because I can barely keep up with work now!!! I can't imagine doing a text thing all day long about what I'm doing and what is going on now and where I'm going for lunch and what kind of massage I just did and what street I'm driving down and..... !!!!

I can't imagine posting everytime I'm doing something. For real? People do this?? Even if it was easy for me to do that, I wouldn't WANT everyone knowing what I was doing every hour.

I have to admit I am a facebooker and a twitter.
I am not really sure I get the whole thing. But I like
keeping up with pop culture. Also I have reconnected with
a few friends from high school.

Also gives me something to do while I am drinking my morning coffee.

Twitter's a great tool, but you have to be careful not to over-spam your followers.

With facebook you can actually buy PPC ads.

Yeah, I've heard 10-12 updates a day is a reasonable number to stay within follower's interests but not to be overwhelming.

:shock: Seriously?! I am obviously not a twitter-type, because I feel overwhelmed thinking about posting that many tweets or receiving that many. On a side note, I think it's fascinating the the movement of "living in the now" is growing alongside the proliferation of "distraction" technology. I wonder if there's a correlation. For every invention that takes you out of the present moment, there's a new book published showing you how to return to the now. We are a crazy culture (but a fun one!) :

My twitter account for just my reflexology-doula practice is updates about appointment openings (like a Saturday slot that becomes available), upcoming lectures and events I am in, and relevant articles or news.

With my other account I do more networking with international health practitioners, others in industries I have interest in (webdesign, writing), and local tips and such. PM me and I'll send you a link to either or both if you want to actually see what I am talking about. I know people use Twitter for a variety of reasons so my example is just one.
