It is common in the country to get a neck massage after a haircut. People go to the salon and then get their head, shoulders and neck massaged by the barber to get rid of everyday fatigue. Recently, a video had gone viral where a man purportedly became "paralysed" after a head massage. Shared as a CCTV footage, the video turned out to be a scripted one. The video was widely shared with misleading claims.
The video, which was carefully acted out, shows a man, who is the customer, sitting in a salon. The barber is seen massaging the customer's head followed by his shoulders. After this, he jerks the customer's neck and turns it to the right. Then the barber jerks the customer's neck and turns it to the left. However this time, the customer gets "paralysed" while sitting on the chair. He starts sliding down from the chair and the barber tries to help him by providing water. While the video sent shockwaves across social media, the entire incident was staged and did not depict the reality.

What Is A Neck Crack Massage?
A neck crack massage, also known as neck popping, is a massage that involves a barber or other professional tilting the neck sharply while holding the customer by the chin. Some people enjoy neck massages because they find them relaxing and think they help keep the neck loose. However, neck massages can cause long-term damage to the neck, including the joints, muscles, nerves, and surrounding tissues.
