What happened to chatrooms?
I used to visit chatrooms alot. They are nice for people who stay up late and still want to talk to people. And obviously there were a lot of jerks, spammers and weirdows using the rooms too. I didn't mind, I would just sift through those, and sometimes get to talk to some really interesting people and have an honestly good time talking. Obviously Yahoo chat rooms died a long time ago. They are packed with constantly harrassing bots and line after chatline of spamming arabs (no offense its just the truth). Then you have Skype which I used to enjoy. With skype you could voice chat with people around the world. Sometimes you would just find jerks or spammers, but many times I gained insight into some person's life in a country I would never visit, learned a bit of what its's like to live somewhere live somewhere like Iraq or india ect..But now skype 4 doesnt support public ims, so that's gone too. Yeah, you have Myspace and Facebook but I don't want everyone I ever talk to to know so much about me, and finding alot of people to talk to at once.. with voice etc.. is nearly impossible. Every chat room I have found online is either empty or full of bots. Havent had much luck using irc. Other options like Paltalk and programs like it, seem to be dangerous for my computer to download ie: spyware, popups etc..So where can one go to talk. To chat. To conversate at 2 am, at 4 am, or whenever they want. Where?
