I cannot install Skype or Windows Live Messenger on my computer due to a hardware problem (I think). I have been using Google Video Chat through the Gmail website in my web browser. I really like the call quality, but it annoys me that I have to keep my web browser open in order to stay online...

i installed google talk and also the video chat plug in. when i try to call my contact who has it too, it says cannot call because user is using chat in gmail or using a other chat program other than google talk. he has skype too, could that interfere with google talk? how do i fix this?
