Haggling has always been part of Canadian culture just only in certain industries.I wonder if the haggling trait is brought in from outside?
I’m Canadian born European and the most embarrassing thing when I was a kid was when shopping with parents (especially mom) - she would haggle at the local grocery store or women’s shop or even worse at places like the bay. It was second nature to them, typical of their town across the Atlantic - but the next gen here in Canada doesn’t do it anymore generally.
Car deals, house deals, garage sales, etc.
But its always been either yes or no.
You don't go to the barber, mechanic, etc and ask to lower their price.
MPAs too at least imo. And I think their opinion too.
