Yeah I don't get it. Every network, and every newspaper has the same news story, whether it's local, national, or international. So is it all fake?

Yes. Almost all of it is fake. That's why mainstream media outlets have seen a decline in viewership and readership. That is why Fox News and MSNBC are the two networks that dominate the airwaves. Both those networks have come out in the open and admitted that most of their programs are partisan towards Conservative and Liberal ideologies respectively. Both of them admit that most of their programming is punditry and not journalism. Their honesty makes them #1 (Fox) and #2 (MSNBC) respectively. Meanwhile, CNN follows the exact same format as these channels but pretends to be an unbiased beacon of journalism. It's so obvious they're a low rent version of MSNBC as far as their liberal biases go but they suck at it. They're not entertaining at all and that is why even a kids network like Nickelodeon is kicking their ass in the ratings.

Face it. Nobody trusts the media anymore. That is why people turn to YouTube or Facebook to get their "news". Nowadays, there is no given source to get the truth. You have to go through every Conservative and Liberal media outlet, listen to the opinions of both sides and then decide who you choose to believe. Sadly, that's how hard it is to get your facts. The New York Times and the Washington Post are not the same papers that people used to read during the Richard Nixon era. I would rather listen to Ben Shapiro or Cenk Uygr who are open about their political views than to Anderson Cooper who is as partisan as Shapiro and Uygr but continues to insult the audience's intelligence by acting as though he's as unbiased as Walter Kronkite.

Not everyone has access to internet or wifi. And I'm sure most people don't want to burn up all their monthly data just to get the daily local and international daily news on the internet. So, it's mostly newspaper, radio, or TV.

There's no need to be afraid of "lamestream" media, as you call it. Sure, there may be some exaggeration and sensationalism, and most intelligent people are aware of that. But news is news. You need to take it with a grain of salt. The news isn't all made up. There is a thing for that. It called "movies".

I don't remember all the sources, as it was a few years ago. But there are lots conspiracy theories against 9/11, just as there were in the Kennedy assassination.

Just the way both buildings collapsed in the exact same way, and in such an orderly fashion, seems odd enough. Just by watching videos of it, it seems the buildings went down in organized explotions. Many other tall buildings around the world have had fires but didn't collapse.

I don't have a Facebook account but I am more inclined to listen to outlets on YouTube than I am to CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, our very own CBC, The New York Times or The Washington Post. All I want is a straight up newscast on TV or a truthful news article on the paper. I want a straightforward report of the facts. I can't seem to get it without a sprinkle of passive aggressive punditry from the mainstream liberal industrial complex. I'm not the only one. More and more people everyday look for other places to educate themselves about various issues in society because they no longer trust mainstream media. CNN has been reduced to nothing more than a shill for the Democratic party. Every minute of the day, these corporate whores try to convince you that they have no political allegiance or party affiliation yet the content of their shows and the pre-existing relationships they have with certain Democrats in office says otherwise.

Personally, when I want to learn about a particular issue, I go through 10 different sources online to educate myself about it. I rely on podcasts and web serieses from people who used to be part of the mainstream media, worked in law enforcement/secret service and/or were in the world of politics. Usually, you could learn a lot more from people like these because they know the inner workings of the industries they used to work for. They've seen the ugly side of the business and their podcast/web series is a platform for them to expose it without any filter from greedy suits who run huge billion dollar machines. An outlet like CNN is selective with what it reports because it wants to protect powerful people who serve their best interests. People online have less limitations with what they can say and less sponsors to answer to. The chances of finding more authenticity in their content is greater.

Because they just tell it the way they see it. It isn't investigative journalism. Just journalism period. Sometimes there's more to the story behind the story. The regular news show is only half an hour or an hour. They can't go in depth for every story.

I always try not to judge, but I’m guessing you're still fairly young but I may be way off base. One day you’ll realize, maybe/hopefully, that the media and your government, tells you only what they want you to know or what they think you want to hear. They are all/mostly, completely, totally and utterly full of shit. Most don’t really want to know what’s going on, they’re happy to get up, go to work, come home, kiss the wife, have dinner and go to bed then repeat for 40-50 years. In between they pay their taxes and try to live a life, raise kids, blah blah blah. Some choose to look into things and learn what’s really going on. Nothing wrong with either one, like I said, I try not to judge, although sometimes I do, it’s hard not to sometimes. I think it’s been said before, you live your life, I’ll live mine. If you really wanted to be informed you could be, the world is at your fingertips.

In depth investigative journalism is absolutely part of what mainstream newspapers, magazines and news channels regularly do. Are you familiar with how Nixon was impeached? Why Jamal Khashoggi was murdered? The Pentagon papers? #MeToo? The My Lai Massacre? Etc. etc. etc.

Regardless no one on 60 Minutes, the Fifth Estate and so forth is making a case that George W. should be in jail for colluding with Bin Laden to blow up NYC, and neither are they telling people Sandy Hook was staged, the moon landings were faked, the earth is flat, and so on...
