It's illegal for a body rub parlour, but not for a holistic centre. Holistic centres are allowed to lock their doors as long as they post a sign saying when the door will be unlocked.

Of course, everyone's sexy parts are also supposed to stay covered and they're required to provide written receipts, so, y'know...

I believe that only applies to the inside doors to the room. Not the exterior door. I've heard of bylaw giving out tickets to holistics in Scarborough for having locked exterior doors.

Must not have had a sign up, then, because the Code's pretty clear. Chapter 545-177, Part I:

Holistic practitioners working in a holistic centre may lock the doors of the centre or a treatment room while working with a client for their mutual security and safety, provided that whenever the doors are locked the time at which the doors will be unlocked shall be posted in a manner clearly visible from outside the holistic centre and the door must be unlocked by the posted time.

Turn off the "OPEN" sign, lock the door, pretend no one is inside. No bylaw officer can force you to open it. "OPEN" sign on=doors must be unlocked.

Makes perfect sense to me. I dropped by once before when I was in the area and the door was locked.

Most of the other spas I have been to had their front doors open, but there was a small corridor or another set of doors on the inside. And when they didn't have that extra space, there was a more discreet entry.

It feels a lot less awkward standing in these spaces vs on the outside with a lot of foot traffic

... there is back door... in Mia Wellness days, not used, but Delinto uses it... likely locked when front is locked... & zero foot traffic...

... even legit spas lock door when no reception & all busy.... Kelly spa, 1st opening after lockdown, no reception... Yuki locked the door...

...got my hopes up! But just legit msg...

There are tons of Spas in Markham and Pickering opening early or 24 hours. There are over 100 spas in Ontario opened 24 hours.
