I think I blew my own wad after starting this thread. US politics seems not as entertaining with Trump staying quiet. This is a good, albeit temporary, thing. Just like herpes, he will be back. As long as it takes campaign contributions to get elected there will be corruption. HR 1 proposes sweeping changes to this system, and it passed in the House, but with the filibuster still in place it has no chance of passing in the Senate. Americans do a lot of things right, but employer based healthcare and campaign financing are exceptions. We are far from perfect in Canada, but I like our system much better.
