I have been in Xidan Mercure recently.

general observations :
- bring in 'visitors' : no problems allowed if visitor leaves at 11:00 PM
- visitor stays overnight (after 11:00 pm):
=> in theory you have to check them in.
=> in practice : bring 'em in before 11:00 PM and she stays in the room = no questions asked. (enter after 11:00 PM : didn't try here, so I don't know.)
- Hotel bar and lobby : no targets at all
- 'evening-phonecalls' ? : none at all.
- hotel spa/massage : didn't try.

Note that all hotels in china have this 11:00 PM rule, and I have never been stopped while bringing a visitor after 11:00PM

In general in other cities in China, in hotels of similar 'category' : Spa/massage girls do offer FS, they do visit in your room.
Just ask the woman/man at the spa reception for full sirvice.
They know what it is about, they are used to it and they are discrete.
You can not loose. You alredy have the 'NO', you can get the 'Yes'. Ask.

Of course, as everywhere in China, streetwalkers are available everywhere.
Just make sure you got your own plastic, since they generally don't carry that and won't even insist on using it but you will need it to keep yourself in good health! To find them : exit any hotel, walk up and down the street yourself and spot any girl that tries to make eyecontact with you.
If you think she'll do, approach and say 'hi'. If she is no SW, she'll walk away, if she is one, she'll tell you the current tarrif (which will be the only thing she can say in English)

In this hotel I did not try the spa, since I have a 'gf' in Beijing so I did not need to do local hunting. So I can't help you with this one.

I advise -if you have time to prepare- to search on internet for services. (a famous one is the list by mister craig's, but there are many others)
Another thing I always try is google on "nightlife " and some other -more explicit words for 'nightlife'.
A personal favourite playground in the 'just-below-top-range shopping mall', the one where you will find girls looking at stuff they can 'almost-afford-but-just-not'. It is a hit and miss game, and you need the time to play it, but with some practice (and luck) you can drag out a nice evening with a very cute non-professional (sometimes with, sometimes without the 'act').

I dont think so. I got in room hotel massage with FS in BJ hotel in November, no problems, but expensive, girl asked for 2000 rmb, settled on 200 for massage, and 1000 for FS, but girl was 22 yo, an 8/10, good attitude, little english.

All you can do is ask, right? It may be listed in the hotel services in your room or call the front desk. I have always found the people behind the desk to be very helpful, especially the guys, when it comes to getting what you want. Even the Marriott had "special" arrangements available.

Folks,

I stayed at the above mentioned hotel in November of last year. I also don´t speak a word of Chinese and it was the first time for me in China / Beijing.
And I also didn´t have any much time to spare, because my stay at the hotel was late afternoon in and next late morning out again.

But taking a stroll around the outside of the hotel brought up a lot of girls who were walking around, and being overtly obvious about wanting to pick up customers.
I found, that they spoke almost all more or less good English, at least as much as is required to negociate price and services and even some more.

Taking them into the hotel and to the room was no problem at all - and the lobby was empty at the time when I did.

So, I think there will always be willing girls in the vicinity of hotels who just wait for us and our money.

Maybe the situation was a bit worse during the Olympic Games, but I guess things will be back to normal now.

Got an in-room massage at the Renaissance, from their own service. I was a little surprised that extras were offered considering it was from a decent Western brand hotel. 300RMB for the massage, 1000RMB negotiated down to 600RMB for the rest. I'd rate the girl a 7, decent service. She said she works at that hotel and the nearby Sheraton.

Was in BJ late June at Warwick Int'l apartments. Renovation made it a bit dusty but their massage girl was top notch. Jiang Jing has excellent skills with take out available. Guys, there are a lot more posts to see on ********************* dot info. It is a much more active site.

There are a lot of travelers who will come to Beijing who don’t have the language skills, negotiating skills, a good host or the time to partake in the pub crawl experience or BBS exploration. There are others that only want a good massage in the privacy of their own room with or without extras but don’t know how to get this. Therefore, I would like to start a topic dedicated to the in-room massage experience. Based on postings I have seen here and elsewhere, quality service is not easy to find and can be pricey.

If you have any useful information, please post it here. Typical information would be:
Contact name and number, a general description of the girl, quality of massage, extras provided, fees paid and any negotiating tips (if required). This would apply to independents and hotel provided services (although I am hoping to see more independents)


Given the situation, I recognize this will be more expensive than the other more common methods but I personally would not mind paying a little extra if the service is good. Hopefully we can build a good database of references in this thread. If not, at least I tried!
