As mentioned above, there are limited downtown options. Have never tried the spas recommended, and may do so.
When in the Chinatown area, I do go to Dajiao Ya, but usually have the choice of one. If you like what you see, then the experience isn't too bad, but the shower is separate in the laundry room, so be prepared to walk a few meters. The front door has glass, and the other business on the 2nd floor has the occasional foot traffic. Last time I was there, incense was being burned - the shower didn't remove the scent.
There are other threads on the desert of Spadina Chinatown. Have walked in and out of SJ Wonder (amongst many others), as didn't feel like having an over-their-prime-would-consider-only-if-drunk attendant. Some enjoy, but NMCOT. Would rather be patient and go east, west or north if wanting some relaxation.
